Director, AI Workflow Transformation
Your Opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.
The Director, AI Workflow Transformation will define and lead the CES strategy for applying AI to back-office functions to improve efficiency, accuracy, governance, and decision support. This role will identify high-value opportunities across financial management, resource management, vendor and work order management, contract management, executive communications, process improvement, and organizational performance reporting. The role will translate business needs into scalable, AI-enabled workflows and operating models that reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and
strengthen execution across CES. The role is accountable for shaping priorities, building cross-functional alignment, driving interrelated initiatives, and establishing measurable outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
• Define and lead the CES roadmap for AI-enabled workflow transformation across back-office functions.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize AI use cases based on business value, feasibility, risk, adoption complexity, and scalability.
• Partner with leaders to redesign manually intensive back-office processes into sustainable, automated workflows.
• Translate CES back office operational needs into clear initiative roadmaps, business requirements, success metrics, and implementation plans.
• Lead cross-functional program management for AI-related initiatives
• Drive adoption and change enablement by aligning solutions to how employees actually work and by reducing friction in day-to-day use.
• Define and track performance measures for AI-enabled workflows, including cycle time, accuracy, throughput, control effectiveness, and decision-support value.
• Communicate strategy, progress, risks, tradeoffs, and outcomes clearly to leaders, partners, and stakeholders at all levels.
• Influence process alignment and decisions across CES, adjacent functions, and external partner groups by building trust, presenting compelling business cases, and aligning stakeholders around shared outcomes.
• Anticipate execution risks, dependency constraints, governance considerations, and operational impacts, and build mitigation plans into delivery approaches.
• Create and lead training, adoption, and change enablement for AI solutions by partnering with leaders to embed new tools and workflows into day-to-day operations, build user confidence, and drive sustained usage and measurable impact.
• Manage all back-office operations for two CES domains; Portfolio Performance Engineering (PPE) and Business Process Management Technology (BPMT).
• Foster a culture of innovation, analytical thinking, and continuous improvement across CES back-office operations.
What Success Looks Like
• Manual, spreadsheet-based workflows are replaced or materially reduced in targeted CES processes.
• Reporting cycles are faster, more accurate, and less dependent on offline consolidation.
• CES leaders have more reliable and timely data for operational and strategic decisions.
• AI-enabled solutions are adopted in real workflows rather than remaining experimental or isolated.
• CES has a clear, prioritized portfolio of AI transformation initiatives with defined business value and measurable outcomes.
• Cross-functional partners are aligned on roadmap, ownership, risk management, and value realization.
