Managing Director, Operations_Broker Dealer Modernization Platform Strategy

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, a preferred candidate for this role has been identified.

Role Overview

The Managing Director, Broker-Dealer Modernization Platform Strategy will lead the coordination of Operations strategy, design, and execution required to modernize Schwab’s core broker-dealer back-office capabilities. This leader will establish and scale a new Operations team responsible for translating Broker-Dealer Modernization efforts into executable business capabilities, future-state processes, controls, data readiness, conversion planning, tooling, testing, and organizational readiness outcomes.

Partnering closely with Schwab Technology, the Transformation Management Office, Product and Program Management, Operations leadership, platform teams, enterprise stakeholders, and critical vendors, this role will ensure modernization decisions enable scalable, resilient, controlled, and client-centered brokerage operations while supporting the retirement, remediation, or replacement of legacy capabilities.

The Managing Director will operate with enterprise accountability, resolving competing priorities, clarifying decision rights, surfacing material risks and dependencies, and providing senior leaders with clear recommendations and transparent reporting throughout design, implementation, conversion, deployment, and stabilization.

Key Outcomes

  • Coordinate and help define the Operations strategy, roadmap, governance model, success measures, and accountability structure for Broker-Dealer Modernization across solution design, vendor configuration, data readiness, conversion, testing, deployment, and operational readiness.
  • Build and sustain an integrated “two-in-a-box” partnership with Schwab Technology, aligning shared objectives, milestones, decision rights, risks, dependencies, and executive escalation paths across Operations and Technology-led workstreams.
  • Provide senior Operations leadership for vendor and solution configuration, ensuring requirements are prioritized, traceable, and aligned to client experience, service, control, resiliency, efficiency, and long-term platform scalability outcomes.
  • Lead operational conversion and migration readiness, including data requirements, reconciliation, exception management, testing strategy, cutover planning, business validation, stakeholder readiness, and post-conversion stabilization.
  • Coordinate with critical senior business leaders the design of future-state operating model, including end-to-end processes, roles, controls, handoffs, service models, automation opportunities, risk reduction, and operating procedures across impacted business, platform, vendor, and Operations functions.
  • Establish data-quality ownership, remediation priorities, business rules, quality thresholds, acceptance criteria, and executive escalation practices to address issues that could impair conversion or future-state processing.
  • Stand up and lead a high-performing BDM Operations organization with the leadership, domain expertise, business analysis, transformation, process design, data, conversion, risk, and change capabilities required to deliver the program and sustain business-as-usual ownership.
