Defined Benefit Services provides actuarial, administration, and participant services to clients whose objective is to provide an integrated retirement plan experience to their employees and a single-provider servicing solution for all of their retirement programs. Schwab Retirement Plan Services, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation. Schwab Retirement Plan Services, Inc. provides recordkeeping, administration, participant education and communication, plan design, consulting, actuarial services, and compliance testing for a total of over 900 defined contribution, defined benefit, and nonqualified retirement plans.
We are looking for a manager to be responsible for leading people and contributing on an individual level to deliver Defined Benefit services to support our corporate clients. Specifically, the person will:
- Supervise, coach and develop a team of professionals in the conduct of their duties.
- Lead activities within the department, provide specialized expertise, and mentor others to drive higher levels of client satisfaction, client retention, and expansion of the overall Schwab relationship
- Lead several client relationships and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to establish priorities, set goals, and achieve successful outcomes.
- Develop team members through coaching, career development mentoring, and motivation
- Consult with prospective/ongoing clients and advisors
- Travel, as needed
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- At least ten years of work experience in retirement plan and/or defined benefit services
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing people and performance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desire to make a significant contribution to the growth of Schwab's Defined Benefit product
- Team player mentality, willing and able to contribute at all levels of service delivery
- Good oral and written communications skills; experience explaining retirement plan information or other complex concepts to customers and prospects
- Experience coordinating successful collaborations with internal teams and external partners
- Ability to rapidly learn broad range of skills, processes, and Defined Benefit subject matter
- Ability to think differently and to continuously improve the delivery of services
- Good organizational skills, shows attention to detail
- Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- ASPPA, CEBS and/or NIPA designations preferred
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
