As part of Schwab Investment Platforms, Solutions, and Strategy (SIPSS), you will join a dynamic group focused on delivering a broad suite of investment products and solutions, helping clients achieve their financial goals. SIPSS brings together expertise in product development, offer management, platform strategy, and delivery—ensuring Schwab’s leadership in wealth and investment management.

The Senior Manager, Product Management will be a part of the Investment Offers & Solutions (IOS) group’s Core Investment Product Development team. This role is for a senior individual contributor responsible for supporting the development, strategy, and growth of Schwab’s Core Investment Products, including mutual funds, ETFs, 529s, and fixed income. This role will translate client needs, market developments, business priorities, and regulatory considerations into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and launches. The Senior Manager will lead product workstreams and mobilize cross-functional partners including operations, digital, legal, compliance, risk, finance, research, and marketing. Success will be measured by the ability to craft point of views on emerging topics, influence decisions, advance priority initiatives, improve client outcomes, and deliver sustainable business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate industry trends, including product innovation, investor demand, distribution trends, pricing, regulation, and competitor activities, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop compelling business cases using client insights, market sizing, financial analysis, operational requirements, risk considerations, and expected business impact to support investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level communications that translate complex information into concise choices, trade-offs, and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Develop and advance product strategies and roadmaps for mutual funds, ETFs, 529, and fixed income, establishing clear priorities, outcomes, and sequencing across near- and long-term horizons.
  • Manage projects across the development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and concept development through build, governance, and launch.
  • Lead complex cross-functional workstreams involving operations, technology, legal, compliance, risk, finance, research, and marketing, creating alignment and driving towards clear decisions.
  • Support effective product governance, including product risk and control assessments, decision forums, and documentation.

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience in product management, product development, or business strategy, and a minimum of 5+ years of total work experience.
  • High financial services acumen. Understanding of financial markets and investment products (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, fixed income, 529).
  • Demonstrated experience shaping and advancing product strategy, including ownership of roadmaps, business cases, and commercialization efforts.
  • Experience leading complex initiatives, coordinating work across multiple functions and building relationships. Prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and business judgment, including the ability to evaluate market information, client insights, financial data, risks, and strategic trade-offs to make recommendations and prioritize opportunities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop concise narratives, present recommendations, facilitate decisions, and communicate effectively with senior leaders.
  • Ability to operate independently in a matrixed environment, manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and drive complex work from problem definition through implementation.
  • Combination of grit, curiosity, and optimism with high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing or managing mutual funds, ETFs, or other registered investment products and their associated platforms.
  • Management consulting, corporate strategy, or internal strategy experience within financial services.
  • Working knowledge of registered investment-product structures, economics, distribution models, operating requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience developing financial models, market-sizing analyses, product-performance assessments, or investment recommendations for senior decision-makers.
  • MBA, CFA, or another relevant advanced degree or professional credential.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
