The Senior Manager, IT Product Management serves as the Product Owner for the
STAR platform and aligned CSTB domains, responsible for defining product strategy,
driving execution, and delivering business value across a matrixed organization.
This role operates as an informal leader and subject matter expert, influencing
outcomes through deep domain expertise, proactive risk identification, and strong
partnerships across business and technology teams. The position leads by example,
provides effective escalation when needed, and influences strategy across platforms to
drive consistent, high-quality delivery of complex solutions.


Key Responsibilities


Product Strategy & Execution
• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for STAR and CSTB domains, including
roadmap development, prioritization, and delivery.
• Translate business strategy, client needs, and operational challenges into
actionable product plans.
• Define and communicate product vision and measurable outcomes aligned to
enterprise goals.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities, and drive appropriate mitigation
actions.
Informal Leadership & SME Guidance
• Serve as a recognized SME across STAR and CSTB domains, guiding product
direction and solution design.
• Lead by example through strong execution, accountability, and disciplined
product practices.
• Anticipate issues and drive proactive mitigation and escalation to ensure delivery
success.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to Product Owners, BAs/BSAs, and partners
on product management practices.
• Influence outcomes through expertise, data, and relationship-building across
teams.


Agile Product Ownership

• Represent the voice of the customer and business to Agile delivery teams.
• Lead backlog prioritization, refinement, and execution across multiple initiatives.
• Ensure high-quality user stories and alignment to business value and outcomes.
• Balance roadmap delivery with emerging needs, ensuring transparency in trade-
offs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business, operations, and
technology partners.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly across diverse audiences.
• Drive alignment and facilitate decision-making; escalate risks or conflicts as
needed.


Business & Technical Alignment
• Demonstrate deep understanding of CSTB processes and supporting technology
platform capabilities.
• Define scalable solutions through analysis of current- and future-state processes.
• Evaluate cross-system impacts and ensure alignment across platforms and
integrated workflows.
Continuous Improvement & Value Delivery
• Use data, KPIs, and stakeholder feedback to inform product prioritization and
enhancements.
• Promote consistent, scalable product management practices across domains.
• Support effective release execution and adoption across the business.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Product Owner experience within CSTB technology
infrastructure
• Experience supporting STAR platform or similar CSTB domain capabilities
• Experience in product management and/or product ownership in complex
enterprise environments

Classification: Schwab Internal• Demonstrated ability to operate as an informal leader and SME, influencing
across matrixed teams
• Strong understanding of retirement services business processes
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and product lifecycle management
• Proven ability to deliver cross-functional initiatives and business outcomes
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
