Located within Financial Crimes Risk Management, the purpose of Fraud Risk Management is to protect our customer and company assets. We conduct investigations and provide resolution for claims of unauthorized or suspicious activity in our customers’ accounts. Our group partners with business units across the firm to assess vulnerability of products, procedures and processes to fraud. We report fraudulent activities to law enforcement, review and analyze suspicious activity to determine emerging fraud trends, recover funds loss from custody, and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).

The primary role for Advisor Services (“AS”) Fraud Investigations Senior Manager is to provide support to the AS Fraud Investigations Team’s strategic initiatives, including managing ad-hoc projects and collaborating with partnering teams to identify and oversee trends. Additionally, the Senior Manager will assist with supervisory review of completed cases, provide support in training and assist with the team’s daily functions, including completing case investigations.

What you’ll do: 

The AS Fraud Investigations Senior Manager will report to the AS Fraud Investigations Senior Team Manager. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct and manage highly complex fraud investigations involving but not limited to:
    • Schwab advisor center (SAC.COM) compromise matters
    • Stolen checks
    • Business email compromise
    • Emerging fraud trends
  • Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple fraud disciplines and provide consultation to investigators, leaders, and business partners.
  • Partner with AS Fraud Prevention, to improve fraud awareness and client protection through training materials and presenting in webinars.
  • Assist in developing training materials, job aids, case studies, and knowledge-sharing opportunities for investigators and business partners.
  • Manage large-scale, ad-hoc research projects involving AS Fraud Investigations trending, team improvements and organization strategic initiatives
  • Represent the team and assist investigators in escalated situations
  • Handle own investigation case load and assist with any team management items, such as case assignment and team box as needed
  • Provide support in Suspicious Activity Report reviews and approvals if needed
  • Participate in pilot programs, process improvements, and operational enhancement initiatives.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ work experience in the following: fraud investigation and prevention, risk management, investigations, law enforcement, and financial services
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrate strong research, analytical and problem resolution skills; strong interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Extensive experience in project work, including examples of successful cross-team/business unit collaboration projects
  • Knowledge of Registered Investment Advisors
  • Experience handling escalated situations with clients and Investment Advisors is required
  • Ability to work independently, capable of meeting strict deadlines, and demonstrate excellent time management skills in high-volume, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive outlook
  • Accurately completes Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) within regulatory standards and timelines
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytic skills to respond and process incoming referrals from internal/external business partners
  • In-depth knowledge of Fraud Investigations Risk Management tools, including FRA, RBA, Splunk, ERE, GIACT, CLEAR or Lexis Nexis, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Applications
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new technology and train others on how to utilize it for investigations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and Active and valid Series 7/63 & 9/10 are preferred (but not required)
