The Wealth Advisory, Banking & Trust Services Risk & Governance (WABT R&G) is a team of risk professionals supporting the Wealth Advisory, Banking & Trust Services business in understanding and executing on obligations of various risk programs. Within WABT R&G, the Governance and Business Operations team is responsible for elevating and focusing on governance practices across WABT. Key activities include governance (committees, councils and informal forums) across the WABT business, and connection to cross-enterprise forums, Product Review and Disclosure Management.
Reporting to the Director, Wealth Advisory, Banking & Trust Services (WABT) Disclosure Management, the Sr. Manager, Business Unit Risk (PL) will support the execution of the WABT-wide Disclosure Management Program, improving efficiency and effectiveness of the process, automation, and accountability of disclosure-related processes. The Sr. Manager will make a broad impact by supporting one or more of the WABT and SIPSS Offer/Product teams (Digital Wealth Products, Wealth Offers, Operations, Strategy or Investment Offers & Solutions) and managing disclosure updates, including content management and the facilitation of reviews and approvals from Offer/Product, Compliance, and Legal.
In this role, you will lead and develop a team responsible for supporting WABT disclosure documents and fragments, while serving as a subject matter expert (SME). You will train, coach, and guide team members to ensure consistent, high-quality execution of disclosure management activities. Additionally, you will oversee the identification and implementation of disclosure updates driven by changes to products, offers, business practices, and the regulatory environment, ensuring your team can proactively assess impacts and execute updates effectively. As the program lead, you will establish processes, provide expert oversight, and drive continuous improvement.
You will also lead cross-functional collaboration with WABT, SIPSS, Partner Enterprises (e.g., Schwab Asset Management, Retail), 1RMO, and XDM to enhance end-to-end processes and tooling, while representing the function as a knowledgeable and accountable leader. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, supporting the following Disclosure Management Program activities:
Strategic Thinking & Collaboration:
- Support the Director in implementation of the Disclosure Management Program
- Participate in the development and execution of rollout, implementation, communication, and training to enable the success of the Disclosure Management Program
- Map and understand connection across various disclosure documents (i.e., Form ADVs, Agreements, Terms & Conditions, and product/offer specific disclosures
- Assess and implement disclosure needs as products, offers, business practices, and/or regulatory environment changes
- Maintain the WABT Disclosure Fragment Glossary
- Establish cross-enterprise partnership with Disclosure Management Stakeholder
- Consult with business offer/product owners, Legal, and Compliance personnel regarding the applicability of rules and regulatory requirements, internal guidelines and disclosure standards, and other risk related issues when reviewing and approving
- Design, develop, and create WABT business guided resources
- Other disclosure or governance related activities
Leading People:
- Lead and develop a team that grows their knowledge by cultivating relevant subject matter expertise (SME) to support WABT & SIPSS disclosure documents and disclosure fragments
- Collaborate with employees to establish clear, challenging performance goals and objectives
- Provide support, coaching, mentoring and feedback to employees through ongoing interaction and individual development plan conversations
- Inspire and bring together team members through team meetings, special activities, and/or individual meetings to strengthen team engagement and connectedness across the team and organization.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of risk management and/or disclosure management work experience, preferably in a diversified financial services environment
- 7+ years’ financial services, consulting, or regulatory experience
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses
- Solid knowledge of recent regulatory developments with a specific focus on disclosure obligations
- Strong understanding of retail, advisory and brokerage products/services.
- Banking experience is beneficial
- Passion for leading people with a team first demeanor
- Proven ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; and execute with limited information and ambiguity
- A keen interest in digital disclosure delivery and product management
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize actions and milestones
- Ability to motivate team and colleagues to achieve tactical and strategic delivery goals
- Proven success streamlining or reimagining existing processes leveraging a creative and resourceful approach
- Successful history influencing and driving a vision while being mindful of stakeholders’ needs and requirements
