Transition Services provides an exceptional onboarding experience for Investment Advisors moving their books of business from another custodian to Charles Schwab & Co. As a Team Manager, you will lead a team responsible for conversion planning, advisor education, data readiness, risk management, and the timely transition of client assets. You will establish priorities, develop talent, remove barriers, and create an environment of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of transition professionals supporting large and complex advisor conversions.
  • Set clear expectations, manage performance, provide timely feedback, and create development plans that strengthen individual capability and team bench strength.
  • Allocate work and resources across the conversion pipeline, balancing advisor needs, business priorities, team capacity, complexity, and risk.
  • Create an inclusive, collaborative team environment that promotes ownership, knowledge sharing, sound judgment, and consistent execution.
  • Represent Transition Services in advisor planning meetings and executive-level discussions; ensure the team provides consultative guidance, practical conversion solutions, and prompt escalation support.
  • Oversee advisor education and training that improves use of Schwab systems and processes, reduces rework, and increases overall conversion efficiency.
  • Monitor conversion plans, training milestones, technology adoption, asset transition progress, advisor experience, and first-year client satisfaction; address gaps with clear action plans.
  • Anticipate operational, regulatory, client, and execution risks across the portfolio; establish controls and lead proactive resolution of issues.
  • Build strong partnerships with Sales, Service, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and leadership to align resources, timelines, communications, and advisor expectations.
  • Serve as the primary leadership escalation point for complex advisor or internal partner issues and guide the team through uncharted or ambiguous situations.
  • Identify process, tools, training, and resource enhancements that improve the advisor and client onboarding experience; sponsor local and cross-site initiatives through implementation.
  • Ensure the team maintains strong knowledge of Schwab products, services, tools, technical functions, and RIA industry practices.
  • Partner with leadership and recruiting teams to attract, select, onboard, and retain strong talent.
  • Promote disciplined communication, accurate reporting, effective follow-up, and consistent operating practices across locations and partner groups.
  • Travel to advisor offices and other Schwab locations as business needs require, including occasional support outside standard business hours for critical conversion events.

What you have


To fulfill our promise of challenging the status quo, successful candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of financial services experience, including strong knowledge of the RIA industry and advisor conversion or transition work.
  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated success coaching, developing, and leading teams through complex work.
  • Minimum of 2 years of specific Schwab Advisor Services experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Advisor Services products, services, operational processes, technical functions, marketing resources, and sales materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with leaders and organizations across the business to improve the advisor experience and deliver business results.
  • Strong operational judgment and the ability to prioritize work, manage risk, resolve escalations, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, follow-up, and relationship management skills, including experience engaging large and small groups.
  • Ability to lead change, promote new ideas, and translate strategy into clear team priorities and measurable execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly learn and coach others on Schwab technical tools and processes.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63, plus Series 9/10 or 24, required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Flexibility to travel and support critical conversion activities on evenings, weekends, or holidays when business needs requires.
