The AS Risk Monitoring team leads the Advisor Services Agent on Retail (ASAOR) efforts for the Advisor Services Risk & Supervision Management department. This team supports business goals through conducting case investigations when warranted by researching, collecting and documenting all necessary evidence. The composition of high-level investigative reports and presentation of findings to management and peers may be required from time to time.  As part of the investigative process the RSM analyst will identify risk and control gaps and propose updates to guidelines and procedures as necessary.

What you’ll do:

  • As an ASAOR Manager, you will perform at an individual contributor level.
  • Collaborate regularly with business partners, including Service, Alliance, Sales, Legal, Compliance, Custody Solutions Team, Retail Financial Consultants and Advisor on Retail Control Team
  • Track trends and train the field and our clients on current ASAOR policies and best practices
  • Aid in the resolution of ASAOR accounts that need to move from the retail platform to AS or move away from Schwab
  • Support the Schwab business in successfully identifying ASAOR accounts, escalating this activity to the appropriate teams, and supporting our clients through remediation events
  • Deliver timely internal and external notifications, communications, and presentations of impactful events
  • Responsible for representing Advisor Services on enterprise-wide, cross functional strategic initiatives involving AS Agent on Retail

What you have


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of financial services industry experience (brokerage preferred)
  • The ideal candidate will possess an understanding and knowledge of policies and processes governing various departments within AS Advisor Custody & Trading (ACT)
  • Professional experience working in a fraud, compliance or risk environment of the financial services industry is a plus 
  • Strong analytical, research and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment and function in a professional manner under pressure
  • Ability to identify and solve complex issues in a team environment working with various levels of management and business partners
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs
  • Internal and external client focus; ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of Advisor Services (AS) which includes FA/SL links, understanding Designated Brokerage, service team/workflow solutions models.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally; proven track record of establishing proactive, constructive dialogue with senior business leaders and peers
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to execute challenging conversations with internal partners and external clients
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and work on multiple assignments and complete them within established deadlines
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, and strong work ethic with high level of integrity and ethics
  • FINRA Series 7, 9/10 and 63 registrations preferred
