Director, Transition Consulting (PL)
Your Opportunity
Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.
You will be a member of Schwab Advisor Services’ Business Consulting and Education (BCE) team, focused on delivering high-impact consulting to advisors as they transition to independence.
The BCE team creates and delivers consulting and education programs that help advisors establish, scale, and operate successful RIA businesses. The team’s impact is driven by translating complex business decisions into actionable plans that drive outcomes across prospect conversion, launch, and long-term growth.
As a Director, Business Transition Consulting, you will serve as both a player and coach—maintaining an active book of transition engagements while leading and developing a subset of Business Transition Consultants. You will directly contribute to successful advisor transitions while elevating team performance, consistency, and execution quality across the transition experience.
You will partner closely with Business Development Officers, Business Development Managing Directors, and BCE leadership to support new business conversion and deliver a differentiated onboarding experience that reinforces Schwab’s value proposition.

Team Leadership & Coaching (Coach Role)
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Transition Consultants, driving consistency in approach, quality, and outcomes
- Provide real-time coaching on active deals, including discovery, planning, risk identification, and execution strategy
- Establish clear expectations, operating rhythms, and best practices across the team
- Identify skill gaps and proactively support development through feedback, role modeling, and targeted coaching
- Reinforce a high-performance culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Partner with Business Transition Consulting leadership to drive strategic initiatives, operating priorities, and process improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve the transition experience, reduce cycle times, and increase conversion success
- Contribute to thought leadership on transition best practices, playbooks, and scalable delivery models
- Align closely with cross-functional partners including Sales, Service, Operations, Product, and Marketing to ensure coordinated execution
- Act as a key voice of the field, bringing insights from advisors and consultants to influence broader BCE strategy
