Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Third Party Legal Process (“TPLP”) group has primary responsibility for legal matters where The Charles Schwab Corporation or its subsidiaries (“Schwab”) are involved as a third party. For example, TPLP handles court orders, garnishments, subpoenas, and tax and child support levies.

TPLP is an energetic, efficient, and engaged team. We are looking for a People Manager who will be responsible for managing a team of court orders, garnishments, levies and/or subpoenas processors, contributing to the processing of legal matters in a timely manner, fielding escalations, building relationships with other groups, and leading by example. The People Manager will also be responsible for working with other TPLP team members to execute our business goals and ensure items handled by the team are processed in an appropriate and timely manner.

Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and building high performing employees by encouraging learning and development including collaboratively setting expectations, holding them accountable for their results, recognizing them when appropriate and not shying away from difficult discussions when needed.
  • Supervising external counsel and effectively handling related expenses.
  • Overseeing teams that process court orders, garnishments, levies and/or subpoenas, communicating with attorneys and clients, and handling a large volume of work with set-in-stone deadlines.
  • Cross-training to serve as a backup for all lines of TPLP work when staffing needs dictate.
  • Serving as a point of contact and helpful resource for colleagues across Schwab.
  • Identifying process changes to improve research and enhance document gathering functions.
  • Communicating via email and telephone with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Working reciprocally in a team environment and developing positive work relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Handling a large volume of work and processes with on-time and accurate results.
  • Possessing, and applying to legal processing work, a broad knowledge and understanding of the Company and its various businesses, the regulatory framework in which the Company operates, and the broker-dealer and financial services industry generally.
  • This position requires in-office attendance per TPLP processing requirements.
