Technical Product Owner
Your Opportunity
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. Corporate Vendor Management identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
What you’ll do:
As a Technical Product Owner, you will own the delivery of enterprise capabilities from intake through release, ensuring requirements are technically sound, sequenced appropriately, and aligned with platform architecture. You will operate as the primary translation layer between business stakeholders and delivery teams, clearly explaining the why behind solutions while driving the how of execution. Success in this role requires comfort managing ambiguity, making tradeoffs explicit, and driving clarity in complex system and data environments.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Product Vision & Strategy
- Execute delivery priorities defined by the Senior Product Owner in alignment with CVM’s objectives, translating strategic direction into delivery‑ready work.
- Provide input on feasibility, sequencing, and dependencies to support informed prioritization and planning.
- Maintain alignment between business intent and technical execution within assigned scope.
- Backlog Management & Delivery Readiness
- Convert ambiguous business needs into clear, technically sound user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Own day‑to‑day Jira backlog execution for assigned capabilities. Refine items based on delivery feedback, architectural considerations, and changing priorities.
- Technical Collaboration
- Partner closely with engineering to clarify APIs, integrations, data flows, and system behavior.
- Ensure requirements account for technical constraints, edge cases, data integrity, and non‑functional needs.
- Surface risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies early to support timely decisions.
- Stakeholder & Team Engagement
- Act as an execution‑level point of contact for business stakeholders within assigned scope.
- Communicate delivery progress, risks, and impacts clearly and proactively.
- Support reviews and demos to validate outcomes against intended business and technical objectives.
- Agile Team Collaboration
- Participate actively in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Make day‑to‑day execution decisions within defined decision rights to maintain delivery momentum.
- Support release readiness and post‑delivery validation.
This is a summary only and duties and responsibilities may be changed from time to time, or over time.
