Schwab Asset Management (SAM) Technology is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for the company’s use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations, and client and business applications.
Schwab Asset Management (SAM) Technology is aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), which is the investment advisor for Schwab’s proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab’s exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™.
The Sr. Manager, Software Development & Engineering Senior within Schwab Asset Management (SAM) Technology reports to the Sr. Manager, Software Development & Engineering Lead (PL) and will provide technical product expertise for the Operations, Finance, Performance, and Policies and Controls technology team. This individual will play a key role in implementing and managing vendor solutions for projects sponsored by the Chief Operating Officer.
What you’ll do:
This position, based in Denver, CO, will provide technical expertise and leadership to the Schwab Asset Management (SAM) Technology team and is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the asset management technology platform.
This individual will champion the adoption of established coding practices and standards set by architects, drive design and implementation across all phases of the software lifecycle (design, coding, testing, deployment, etc.), and establish implementation patterns to be adhered to by engineering partners.
This individual will also be a key player in the implementation and integration of modern applications that support investment advisory business capabilities and build highly scalable cloud applications that enable future business growth. In addition to being a strong technical contributor, part of the role will involve influencing best practices through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance, and collaborating across multiple teams and internal organizations.

This role requires a highly motivated and experienced senior developer with pride of ownership reflected through clean application design, code quality, a disciplined software development approach, and accountability for delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong asset management business knowledge; must have worked in the asset management industry for 5+ years.
- Experience supporting vendor applications for the asset management business; knowledge of reconciliation and pricing applications is a plus.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience owning and leading production support and engineering delivery for Eagle, Eagle Pricing Center, and SmartStream, ensuring accurate and timely pricing, FX processing, reconciliations, and rapid resolution of complex data and production issues across Asset Management systems.
- Drive operational stability and business confidence by resolving complex data, pricing, and reconciliation issues while supporting production deployments and release readiness.
- At least 2 years providing technical leadership (e.g., leading application design, driving design reviews, setting engineering patterns/standards, and influencing delivery across a small team).
- Strong knowledge of APIs and web services (REST/SOAP), JSON, and XML.
- 5+ years of experience developing in C# (including ASP.NET), Angular, with strong MS SQL skills, and delivering software in an Agile environment.
- Experience or knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Experience or knowledge of database design and development (SQL and NoSQL).
- A proven track record of delivering technology solutions within agreed-upon timeframes.
- A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in information management, computer science, and/or other professional certifications are a plus.
