We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to join the OMS Product Team. The team’s goal is to build trust, credibility, and strong partnerships with all business lines, technology, and vendors. The Product Owner will work directly with technology teams in an Agile environment for the entire software development lifecycle; working with business and product teams to gather and document requirements, prioritizing deliverables and testing the functionality to ensure it meets the business and technology needs.
The Product Owner may support a variety of functions and business units: Margins, Risk, Operations, CS&S, Order Routing, and client facing front ends including TOS, AS and schwab.com. Additionally, the Product Owner will support all products including equities and options, mutual funds, fixed income, futures, and forex.
Responsible for providing Product Owner expertise to meet business objectives; bring leadership, perspective, consistency of approach, and quality assurance to assigned projects. The Product Owner will assist the business units with several key tasks including, but not limited to, the below items.
- Works with the leadership team on annual business plans, quarterly roadmaps, and proposals
- Partners with business owners to intake enhancement requests, document impact, and define and track detailed requirements
- Manages platform backlog, aligning on business priority, and communicates progress updates to stakeholders
- Represents the platform team with backlog tracking and intake, coordinates release testing, and progress communication
- Leads requirement writing using iterative Agile methodology in JIRA, defining acceptance criteria, partnering with technology, attending scrum meetings, and implementing technical enhancements
- Collaborates with technology on backlog grooming, iteration planning and release planning
- Performs technical certifications during internal and external production releases, outside of regular business hours
- Support business team day-to-day platform questions and assist in production support triage, acting as a liaison with technology partners, and escalate as needed
- Works with business partners to understand business processes, process flows, business needs and analyze difficulties, identify viable solutions, and ultimately implement enhancements.
- Independently manages and coordinates project tasks, leads analysis interviews, owns facilitation of discussions, and communications with impacted areas regarding project
- Investigates and validates reported issues to assess risk and exposure and ultimately provide input on prioritization
- Understand the integration points between OMS and the rest of the trading and clearing ecosystem
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Brokerage Operations and/or business analysis experience, preferably in Product space
- Experience in the various facets of testing; test documentation, execution, and supporting others through the testing life cycle
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strategic approach to help drive product management decisions, governance, and long-term.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Active and valid FINRA Series 7 and 63 preferred
- Agile training and knowledge of JIRA and Confluence is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communications skills; experience and comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership teams
- Experience in assisting in business requirement gathering and documentation
- Ability to effectively manage and lead projects within a cross functional project team (technology, operations, product, and business organizations)
- Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and other MS Office Products
