At Schwab, the Cloud Services organization empowers development teams with secure, scalable, and easy-to-consume cloud solutions aligned with regulatory and client expectations. Our mission is to operationalize cloud capabilities and enable the standardized, enterprise-scale adoption of multi-cloud infrastructure.
Within this organization, the Cloud Services Engineering - Modules team builds the developer-facing infrastructure products that make cloud adoption simple, consistent, and secure. We deliver reusable modules, opinionated patterns, and automated guardrails that enable application teams to move quickly while meeting Schwab’s security, reliability, and compliance standards.
As a Cloud Senior Engineer, you will operate as a technical leader and force multiplier, owning complex, multi-team initiatives and shaping the design and evolution of enterprise cloud modules. You will drive the translation of platform capabilities into scalable, developer-ready solutions, while influencing engineering standards, improving system reliability, and elevating the overall developer experience across the firm.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to move beyond individual contribution into broader technical ownership. Leading design across systems, mentoring engineers, and driving alignment across platform, security, and application teams. You will have the opportunity to impact how cloud is consumed at scale across Schwab while working with modern cloud technologies and enterprise-grade systems.

What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Software Development or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in enterprise environments supporting production systems
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, with demonstrated experience designing and scaling reusable modules or shared infrastructure patterns
- Experience leading design and delivery of complex cloud solutions, spanning multiple services, teams, or system components
- Experience supporting mission-critical, 24x7 production systems, including incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration
- Hands-on experience with DevOps toolchains and CI/CD pipelines, such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar platforms
- Experience implementing security, compliance, and policy controls in cloud environments, including identity, network security, and governance integration
- Demonstrated delivery of measurable improvements in multiple areas (Platform standardization; System scalability and performance; Reliability and availability; Automation and operational efficiency)
- Experience collaborating across engineering teams to define requirements, influence architecture, and deliver integrated solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building developer-facing platform products, such as reusable modules, golden paths, or self-service infrastructure platforms
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives or influencing architecture beyond immediate team scope
- Strong ability to mentor engineers and scale impact through others, improving team capability and engineering rigor
- Experience defining or contributing to engineering standards, patterns, or governance models
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and influence stakeholders with data-driven insights
- Experience working in highly regulated environments, with familiarity in audit, risk, and compliance frameworks
- Cloud provider certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with multi-cloud strategies and enterprise platform operating models
