Within Banking and Trust Services (BTS), the Data, Risk, Access, and Technology & Tools Strategy (DRATS) team helps BTS use data and technology safely, effectively, and in alignment with firm standards. The team supports data and technology risk management, advises on digital and data initiatives, and provides workflow, analytics, and reporting support for business-specific needs.

As a Sr. Manager, Business Unit Risk – Data Risk Manager, you will partner with BTS business units as part of the first line of defensethe business area responsible for owning and managing riskto implement data risk management, governance, and integrity standards that support operational resilience, regulatory alignment, and client trust.

Role Summary

This is an individual-contributor role that helps BTS strengthen data risk management by translating firm-wide policies and standards into practical routines for business teams. The role works with business, technology, governance, and risk partners to drive execution, influence outcomes, resolve complex issues, and provide leadership visibility into data risk management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate implementation of data risk management, governance, and integrity standards by helping teams identify critical data, develop rationale, obtain approvals, and maintain supporting records in approved governance tools.

  • Support data quality monitoring and issue management by reviewing data, defining business rules, monitoring results, helping resolve data quality concerns, and documenting or escalating issues when needed.
  • Document how data moves through important business processes by identifying key reports and processes, mapping data from source to use, documenting related risks and controls, and coordinating reviews and approvals with business and technology partners.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships across business, governance, technology, and risk partners to drive alignment, resolve issues, and support consistent execution of data risk management activities.

  • Prepare leadership-ready reporting and recommendations on governance progress, data quality trends, issue remediation, and emerging risks to support prioritization and decision-making.

What you have


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, risk management, information systems, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experiencein data risk management, data governance, data integrity, operational risk, controls, compliance, audit, or another regulated or control-oriented environment.
  • Experience translating policies, standards, or regulatory requirements into clear procedures, guidance, or day-to-day business practices.
  • Experience tracking, documenting, monitoring, and helping resolve issues, risks, controls, process gaps, or operational concerns.
  • Experience working with business and technical stakeholders to understand how data is used in processes, reporting, or decision-making, including the ability to break complex processes into key steps and identify where data is created, changed, used, or reported.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain risk, data, or process issues clearly; facilitate cross-functional discussions; and prepare concise, business-facing materials for leaders and partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, establish priorities, and drive complex work to completion while partnering effectively across business, technology, governance, and risk teams.

  • Experience analyzing data, reports, or trends to identify issues, develop insights, support decision-making, monitor outcomes, and communicate findings to business and technical partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, establish priorities, exercise sound judgment, and drive complex work to completion while bringing clarity and structure to ambiguous or evolving issues.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with risk and control frameworks, issue management, remediation tracking, control testing, audit readiness, or regulatory exams.
  • Experience supporting data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, reporting controls, or business data flow activities for critical reports, important businessprocesses, regulatory reporting, management reporting, or other high-risk uses of data.
  • Experience using data analysis, reporting, or visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Experience using governance, risk, workflow, or data quality tools such as Collibra, Archer, Jira, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Informatica Data Quality, or similar platforms
  • Experience facilitating working sessions or cross-functional discussions with business, risk, compliance, technology, or data partners.
