In this role, you will build and maintainsecure, scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform to support the Cyber Security Data Mart. You will partner with security, engineering, and business teams to deliver trusted data products that improve asset inventory, security analytics, reporting, and customer self-service.

This role aligns to a Grade 55 Security Development & Engineering profile while requiring strong data engineering skills. You will be expected to apply secure development practices, support reliable data operations, and use approved artificial intelligence tools, including GitHub Copilot, to improve delivery efficiency, strengthen code quality, and identify better solutions for the Data Mart.

  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
  • Developing and optimizing SQL and Python solutions for data ingestion, transformation, automation, validation, and reporting.
  • Translating cyber security and business requirements into reliable data products that support analytics, metrics, dashboards, and operational decisions.
  • Applying secure development, data quality, data governance, and access control practices across data solutions.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving data pipeline issues while driving timely root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Recommending improvements to data architecture, pipeline design, performance, maintainability, and operational resilience.
  • Using approved artificial intelligence tools, including GitHub Copilot, to improve productivity, support code development, generate tests, improve documentation, and reduce repetitive engineering work.
  • Reviewing, validating, and securing AI-assisted outputs before use to ensure alignment with Schwab standards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, manage priorities, and deliver incremental value in an Agile environment.
  • Documenting data flows, metrics logic, procedures, support models, and operational runbooks to improve maintainability and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, cyber security, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 - 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data management, application development, security engineering, or related technical delivery.
  • Experience gathering data from multiple sources and consolidating it into trusted, centralized data products for analytics, visualization, reporting, and operational use.
  • Strong experience with Google BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, and related Google Cloud Platform services.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing, automation, validation, transformation, and optimization.
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting extract, transform, and load processes and production data pipelines.
  • Understanding of secure development practices, data protection, code review, testing, access control, and operational support.
  • Ability to use or learn approved AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, to improve coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and delivery efficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additional Google Cloud Platform services such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Dataplex, Dataform, or Looker.
  • Relevant Google Cloud certifications such as Associate Data Practitioner, Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Data Engineer, or Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, automated deployment pipelines, and tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or Looker.
  • Familiarity with cyber security data sources, vulnerability management, application security, cloud security, or risk analytics.
  • Experience building reusable data products, authorized views, self-service datasets, or governed analytics patterns.
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot or related AI-assisted developer tools to improve code quality, automate repetitive tasks, generate tests, or document code.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI practices, secure use of generative AI, and validation of AI-generated code.
  • One or more relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISM, CISSP, CRISC, or CISA.
  • Understanding of security control frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, COBIT, or ISO.
