This Senior Manager role will be responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of proper data risk management within Banking & Trust Services (BTS) by partnering with data owners and subject matter experts to ensure compliance with Data Risk Management Standards and Policies. This role will as the senior steward of BTS data assets, driving daily data governance and integrity activities for Schwab Banking & Trust Services enterprises including Schwab Bank, Schwab Premier Bank, Schwab Trust Bank, The Trust Company of Delaware and The Trust Company of Nevada. This is a specialized individual contributor role that will report directly to the Director of Data, Risk, Access and Tools & Technology Strategy (DRATS).

What You Are Good At

This role is the overall caretaker of the BTS data assets, ensuring end to end data quality, accuracy, consistency, and security across the enterprise. This person will coordinate all data governance and data integrity related activities for BTS and will engage with leaders and subject matter experts at all levels to ensure that BTS data assets are in compliance with Firm Data Risk Management Policy and Standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating local data governance forum meetings.

  • Managing and maintaining data quality and day-to-day data management functions for BTS critical data.

  • Supporting the data governance efforts to build a robust data inventory complete with associated metadata and data lineage, capture changes to the use and consumption of data, and establish monitoring of data quality

  • Creating Business Data Flow (BDF) diagrams to visually depict the flow of data across a process map from point of use, back to all applicable data sources.

  • Collaborating with business and technical subject matter experts to identify data risk and implement data controls in alignment with the firm’s data risk management framework.

  • Ensuring business rules are adhered to when data is created, updated, deleted, retired, and archived by performing data quality control activities

  • Supporting the intake, assessment, and governance of AI-enabled use cases within BTS, ensuring alignment with data and model risk, privacy, and security requirements.

  • Contributing to training materials, playbooks, and forums that raise overall data and AI fluency across BTS.

  • Building effective working relationships with business and technical partners to support ongoing data risk management efforts.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or in data risk management, data quality or data governance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Deep understanding of enterprise data management concepts, including data quality, lineage, metadata, stewardship, and controls.

  • Experience with Data Governance and Analytics tools, such as Collibra, Informatica, Tableau/PowerBI, and Google BigQuery.

  • Familiarity with AI concepts, analytics, and emerging AI tools, such as Copilot.

  • Experience developing and presenting executive level communications,

  • Knowledge of Banking and Personal Trust services and products and the operational and financial metrics used in the industry
