Networking People Leader (Cloud Senior Manager Lead, PL) — Cloud Services
Your Opportunity
Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.
The role
People leader for the Cloud Services networking team — the dedicated pod that owns cloud and on-premises connectivity for the whole organization. This person is accountable for delivery, staffing, and development across the networking domain: landing-zone and network foundation, VPC / subnet / CIDR planning, firewalls and security groups, private connectivity (Interconnect / Direct Connect), DNS, IP address management, and the network center-of-excellence and CRQ operations. They lead a team of network engineers, set the delivery roadmap and the networking standards and review bar, and represent the cloud organization to security, platform, application, audit, and regulatory partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the networking pod — a team of roughly five to six network engineers across GCP, AWS, and on-premises connectivity — owning delivery, resourcing, prioritization, and the team's operating cadence.
- Own the networking delivery roadmap and the standards and review bar for the domain: landing-zone and network foundation, VPC / subnet / CIDR planning, firewalls, private connectivity, DNS, and IP address management, delivered as reusable, self-service capability where possible.
- Grow and develop the team: hiring, coaching, performance, and succession, including the operational network-lead line and the knowledge transfer that removes single points of failure.
- Run network operations at a production bar — CRQ and change management, on-call and incident response, and the reliability of the connectivity the rest of the organization depends on.
- Partner across the organization — with Schwab Cyber Security, the platform and modules pods, application teams, and audit and regulatory reviews — and represent networking in planning and governance forums.
- Advance the multi-cloud networking strategy: keep GCP and AWS network architecture coherent, drive the on-premises-to-cloud connectivity model, and align with the network domain architect on reference patterns.
