Role Summary
The Managing Director, Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) Shared Services leads the strategy, design, and execution of CVM’s core technology platforms, data and analytics capabilities, corporate travel and card programs, and program office. As a member of the CVM leadership team, this executive owns the function’s technology and investment agenda and is accountable for enterprise-wide execution, scalability, governance, and business impact.
CVM Shared Services enables how Schwab transacts with third parties, supporting more than 11,000 employees and approximately $3.7 billion in annual vendor spend, helping CVM secure more than $273 million in annual vendor savings, and delivering enhancements to the travel and expense platform used by more than 16,000 employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute the CVM technology, data, analytics, and artificial intelligence strategy, aligning priorities and investments with enterprise objectives.
- Own the multi-year CVM technology roadmap, including selection, design, delivery, adoption, and ongoing optimization of core platforms.
- Lead modernization of contract lifecycle management, including automated contract review, risk and legal workflows, intelligent search, contract-family visualization, and analytics.
- Partner with Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders to define the future-state procure-to-pay model, including automation and integration requirements for the enterprise resource planning platform.
- Secure investment and lead completion of the Third-Party Risk Management platform, enabling streamlined risk reviews, issue and performance management, systems integration, and reporting.
- Govern the CVM investment portfolio and delivery capacity, orchestrating dependencies, resources, priorities, risks, and outcomes across strategic initiatives.
- Establish and lead the CVM Program Office, strengthening execution discipline, governance, transparency, and accountability across the portfolio.
- Lead data governance and controls, coordinate CVM business-led development, and advance the Data & Insights cloud strategy.
- Build and lead the Corporate Services function, integrating Schwab’s Travel & Expense program and institutional client due diligence capabilities under a unified operating model.
- Represent CVM in enterprise transformation programs and present strategies, investment proposals, progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
- Build, develop, and inspire high-performing global teams capable of delivering both strategic transformation and consistent operational results.
What you have
Required Experience
- At least 15 years of progressively senior leadership experience in corporate vendor management or a closely related function within a large, complex organization.
- Demonstrated success leading diverse, global teams and delivering against both strategic transformation priorities and operational commitments.
- Proven ability to shape enterprise strategy, secure investment, lead complex technology-enabled change, and influence outcomes across organizational boundaries.
- Experience overseeing vendor management technology, data and analytics, third-party risk, contracting, procure-to-pay, travel and expense, or comparable shared-services capabilities.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience presenting recommendations, risks, and results to senior leaders and executive audiences.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make timely, well-informed decisions amid complexity, ambiguity, and significant business challenges.
- Track record of building trusted, authentic relationships with internal and external business partners.Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other relevant postgraduate degree preferred.
