The Digital Advice Technology (DAT) group manages a suite of Schwab automated investing products, including Schwab Intelligent Portfolios. We deliver great platforms through teamwork, innovation, and attention to quality in order to bring wealth management solutions to more customers. Schwab Intelligent Portfolios is a fully automated investment advisory service with features such as goal tracking, automatic rebalancing, and tax-loss harvesting.

DAT is looking for a senior level engineer who will contribute to team planning & technical design, implement high quality code, and collaborate with & contribute to QA to ensure appropriate test coverage on the Business Capability engineering team. The team develops, tests, and releases the experience. They are a full stack team including core APIs, workers, databases, libraries, front end API, and SPA. The individual will need to contribute in a full stack manner to both the front and back ends. The position provides the opportunity to work innovatively and collaboratively with product and technology partners to execute to Schwab’s vision to be the most trusted leader in investment services.

What you’re good at:

· Analyze, design, develop, debug, configure and modify software systems and/or new products use in local, cloud, networked, mobile, & internet-related technology. Code used in commercial and/or end-user applications.

· Leverage current and evolving technologies to design, code, test, log, debug, document and analyze current/future applications. Focus on maintainability, security, availability, and scalability.

· Build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with team members, product partners, & dependent cross-team members

· Suggest alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements with greater reusability, and reduced maintenance complexity

· Participate in troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of production support issues by answering and providing details on key functional questions regarding application behavior

· Manages team projects with other team members and may participate in cross- functional projects

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or related practical experience

· 6+ years of hands-on software development experience

· 3+ years leveraging object-oriented development in C#

· 3+ years experience with JavaScript libraries/frameworks specifically Angular

· 3+ years experience in databases, such as SQL & MongoDB

· Experience with mobile friendly web application development (hybrid or native a plus)

· Experience writing UI integration test automation in C#

· Strong knowledge of Github CI/CD

· Experience with Github Copilot

· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

· Ability to contribute to all phases of the SDLC

· Requirements review

· Design implementation

· All aspects of testing

· Production implementation and support

· Data analysis

· Hunger to learn and an intense technical curiosity

· Critical thinker and solutions oriented

· Prior experience interfacing with SRE/production support

· Delivery driven - motivated and passionate about meeting the needs of each customer (internal & external)

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience and working knowledge of Web Applications, Databases, Web Services, batch processing technologies

· Experience working on teams leveraging Behavior Driven Design (BDD) and Test Driven Design (TDD)

· Strong knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.), Excel, Word and Visio, UML tools, Swagger, requirements management tools

· Solid experience and understanding of Agile Methodologies

· Experience with cloud-native enterprise applications in public or private cloud is strongly preferred

· Prior experience with trading systems or financial services experience is a plus

· Experience with scrum methodology

· Experience tuning and maximizing performance of UI, API, and CI-related components

· Ability and desire to contribute to application and platform architecture and design

· Experience with test automation as a part of Continuous Integration, enabling Conti

· Experience developing with .NET Core

· Experience with Launch Darkly feature management

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
