As an Alternative Investment Risk Analysis Manager, you will be on the forefront of assisting internal business partners across the alternative investment teams including but not limited to risk prevention, processing client requests, knowledge center updates, OROC reporting, financial audit reviews, annual review and maintenance/updates of policies and procedures in control hub and SOAP. We focus on improving operating use by integrating functions, increasing productivity, and gaining efficiencies to better position Schwab to challenge in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients. Some specific duties of this position include, but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain annual review frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Perform thorough operational due diligence on alternative investment assets such as private equity, hedge funds, and real estate.
- Support the SR Team Manager in developing a cross-functional team through training and identifying areas of opportunity and enhancing process efficiencies.
- Collaborate and partner with alternative investment asset onboarding team to ensure procedures are consistent and in alignment with policy.
- Partner with internal organizations, including Schwab Technology, Product Management, external vendors, and other internal business channels, to deliver on the organization’s AI Modernization strategy
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve workflows and identify best practices.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory developments in alternative investments.
- Assess and enhance operational workflows, reporting structures, and risk management protocols.
- Partner with teams across alternative investments to update and maintain information in knowledge center, RCSAs, POS and SOAP
- Assist alternative investment teams with updates and/or creation of controls though Control Hub
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- Three or more years of experience in Alternative Investment asset review or Alternative Investment risk analysis
- Familiarity with data collection for the Operational Risk Oversight Committee (OROC) report for Alternative Investments
- Bachelor’s degree and FINRA Series 7/63 licenses highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong skills in Excel with ability to create pivot tables and use v-lookup
- A strong understanding of alternative investment asset structures and the alternative investment custody policy
- Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives
- Ability to resolve complex Alternative Investment asset review issues and escalations
- Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and solve problems in dynamic, multitasking environments.
- Excellent relationship management skills and a focus on improving the client and business partner experience
- Ability to identify and mitigate risk by adhering to department and firm policies and procedures.
- Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
