The CSIM SMA Operations and Trade Support Team is responsible for providing focused support to Portfolio Managers and Traders for trade order generation, tax loss harvesting and account maintenance on behalf of Schwab’s separately managed account (SMA) products. In addition, the team is responsible for several strategic, multi-year projects, cross-functional reporting, as well as ad-hoc operational strategy support to other teams within the larger organization. What You’ll Do:

The Director, SMA Operations and Trade Support will lead and oversee the operational teams and will:

• Be responsible for improvements to our operating model, focusing on efficiency and scalability

• Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to bring new SMA products to market by supporting product development initiatives while enforcing the implementation of strong controls and standardized workflows

• Effectively partner with a large, geographically dispersed team

• Set team objectives, monitor and measure progress, and deliver practical results over time that advance our best-in-class operational environment and ensure that the team can meet its commitments to the larger strategy of the firm

• Monitor, analyze, and advocate for action (when needed) relative to industry developments, internal changes, and/or regulatory adjustments

• Effectively manage big-picture thinking, while making practical forward progress

• Create and deliver executive-level presentations with a clear, succinct communication style, going into detail when requested

• Navigate cross functional relationships and build alignment for complex issues; collaborate with internal (Traders, Portfolio Managers, Product Management, Technology, Business Intelligence, etc.) and external business partners (Broker/Dealers, IBOR Provider, etc.)

• Absorb appropriate information to make critical, risk-controlled decisions in a timely fashion

• Anticipate trends and key issues that are pertinent to the business

What you have

• Bachelor's degree required

• 12+ years of professional industry experience

• Background in financial services required with experience in investment/asset management a significant plus

• Ability to come up to speed quickly, at a high level and across a broad spectrum of functionalized teams and departments

• Excellent nuanced judgment in bringing a product to market

• Ability to effectively network across a diverse, talented, and geographically dispersed team of business partners

• Strong communication, teamwork, and cross-functional relationship building skills

• Experience with various investment product structures with SMAs experience required

• Background with various investment types including domestic and foreign equities, fixed income, and third-party NAV instruments

• Ability to work under pressure and within both long-run as well as shorter-run deadlines

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
