Director, Product Management – Offer Order & Client Understand

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director, Product Management to lead the product organizations supporting the Offer Order (O2) and Client Understand platforms.

This leader will be responsible for defining and executing platform strategy, driving business outcomes, and leading a high-performing organization of Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and people leaders. The role requires a strategic thinker and proven people leader who can balance long-term vision, day-to-day execution, organizational development, and stakeholder influence while driving measurable results.

The Director will provide leadership through organizational layers, including direct leadership of a Senior Team Manager and associated product teams. Success in this role will require developing talent, empowering leaders, creating organizational scale, and building a strong succession pipeline.

In addition, this leader will serve as a catalyst for AI adoption and organizational fluency, helping teams leverage emerging AI capabilities to improve product management practices, accelerate delivery, enhance decision-making, and unlock new business value. The successful candidate will foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning while ensuring responsible adoption of AI capabilities across the organization.

This position partners closely with Technology, Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, Risk, and senior business leaders to deliver capabilities that improve client experiences, increase operational efficiency, strengthen data quality, and enable Schwab's long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Platform Strategy

• Define and execute the strategic vision, roadmap, and investment priorities for the Offer Order and Client Understand platforms.
• Establish short and long-term product strategies aligned to enterprise objectives and business outcomes.
• Drive platform modernization, simplification, scalability, and resiliency initiatives.
• Balance business demand, technical health, risk reduction, regulatory requirements, and innovation opportunities.
• Ensure platform capabilities support evolving client, operational, and enterprise data needs.
• Identify emerging trends and opportunities that position Schwab for future growth and competitive advantage.

Business & Customer Outcomes

• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities that improve client experience, operational efficiency, platform performance, and data quality.
• Translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and investment decisions.
• Drive adoption of outcome-based product management practices, including OKRs, value-based prioritization, and continuous learning.
• Monitor business performance, platform health, adoption metrics, and delivery outcomes to ensure realization of expected value.
• Establish and communicate meaningful success measures tied to business impact and client outcomes.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing organization consisting of Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and people leaders.
• Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and support to a Senior Team Manager while ensuring alignment and accountability across the broader organization.
• Build organizational capability through talent development, workforce planning, succession management, and leadership coaching.
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Create meaningful growth opportunities that strengthen engagement, retention, and leadership readiness.
• Champion modern product management practices, agile leadership principles, and continuous learning.
• Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance measures that drive both individual and organizational success.

AI Leadership & Organizational Transformation

• Serve as a champion for AI-enabled product management and delivery practices across the Offer Order and Client Understand organizations.
• Drive AI fluency throughout the organization by identifying opportunities to integrate AI tools and capabilities into product strategy, planning, analysis, delivery, and decision-making processes.
• Partner with Technology, Architecture, Data, and Enterprise AI teams to evaluate and scale emerging AI capabilities.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and responsible AI adoption.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, strengthen insights, and accelerate value delivery through AI-enabled solutions.
• Establish measurable goals and outcomes related to AI adoption and business value realization.
• Ensure AI initiatives align with enterprise governance, risk, compliance, and responsible AI standards.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Program Management, Operations, Data Management, and business stakeholders to align priorities and deliver outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships and influence decisions across organizational boundaries.
• Navigate complex dependencies, competing priorities, and strategic tradeoffs across multiple initiatives and teams.
• Provide transparency into platform strategy, roadmap execution, risks, dependencies, and investment decisions.
• Facilitate alignment among senior leaders and stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.

Delivery & Operational Excellence

• Ensure disciplined execution of roadmap commitments while maintaining platform reliability, scalability, and operational stability.
• Support Agile Product Delivery Lifecycle practices and Lean Portfolio Management principles.
• Drive continuous improvement across planning, prioritization, governance, and value delivery processes.
• Lead portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution discussions to maximize organizational effectiveness and business impact.
• Promote operational excellence through strong metrics, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Risk, Governance & Compliance

• Ensure regulatory, audit, security, privacy, and risk management requirements are incorporated into platform strategy and execution.
• Promote sound governance, operational resiliency, and strong control environments.
• Maintain alignment with enterprise architecture standards, data governance practices, and technology policies.
• Effectively manage risk while balancing delivery speed, innovation, and business objectives.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in product management, platform management, technology, operations, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience leading product, business analysis, or technology organizations.
• Demonstrated success leading through organizational layers, including leadership of people leaders.
• Proven ability to define and execute strategy for complex products, platforms, or business capabilities.
• Experience building and leading high-performing teams in Agile environments.
• Strong strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and executive communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across large organizations.
• Experience balancing business priorities, technology investments, operational needs, and risk considerations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Financial services, brokerage, wealth management, or banking industry experience.
• Experience with client, account, securities, reference data, or operational platforms.
• Knowledge of product operating models, Agile frameworks, and Lean Portfolio Management.
• Experience leading modernization, transformation, or platform consolidation initiatives.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve business processes, decision-making, or product delivery outcomes.
• Strong understanding of data management, governance, and enterprise platform strategies.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
