Position Summary

The Director of Participant Engagement is a strategic leader who guides efforts to deliver comprehensive engagement for Workplace clients. As the top provider of participant outcomes, this individual manages a team of B2B consultants focused on showcasing Schwab’s full range of services to client participants.

This leader is expected to encourage participants to interact digitally via our mobile app and user-friendly website, utilize live channels for personalized advice and wealth management, and benefit from Schwab’s educational and financial wellness resources available through their plan.

The role oversees a team of consultants, ensuring they are prepared, supported, and motivated to achieve outstanding results that boost satisfaction, retention, and positive outcomes for participants.

An ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, operational excellence, and genuine enthusiasm for building participant-centric engagement at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Define and perpetuate the optimal team culture daily.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Participant Engagement Consultants.
  • Develop and set long-term strategic goal plans for the team.
  • Manage the short-term implementation plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, empathy, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning to build team capacity.

Participant Experience Strategy

  • Develop and implement engagement strategies that enhance participant and plan-sponsor satisfaction and retention.
  • Use data and participant insights to identify trends and opportunities to influence partners and the experience we deliver for our clients.
  • Partner and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure a seamless participant journey.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and refine processes, workflows, and best practices for participant engagement.
  • Create a highly disciplined structure and consistent repeatable processes for serving clients.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to ensure team effectiveness.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize engagement touchpoints and increase scale.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as the voice of the participant in internal discussions and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align engagement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Represent the Participant Engagement function in cross‑departmental initiatives.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure participant interactions meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance practices to maintain consistency and excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of securities regulations and supervisory obligations.

What you have


Required Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in B2B consulting, sales, and relationship management.
  • More than 3 years of leadership experience overseeing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record of leveraging data to inform decisions and enhance outcomes.
  • Significant experience in developing scalable processes and managing operational performance.
  • FINRA Licenses: Series 7, Series 24.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
