The Business Unit Risk and Supplier Team (BURST) is responsible for first line risk management activities for Banking & Trust Services (BTS) including Data Risk Management, Access Management and Business Led Development supported by the Data Risk, Access, and Tools (DRATS) team. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a talented and experienced DRATS Director to lead our efforts in safeguarding our BTS data and technology assets.
As the Director of DRATS, you will oversee two critical teams - BTS Identity & Access Management (I&AM) and BTS Tools & Technology Strategy - responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating risks related to business-led application development, access provisioning and certification for BTS applications, and the development of innovative technology solutions. Additionally, you will play a key role in driving BTS data risk management initiatives, including data governance and data integrity to support our business objectives and enhance operational efficiency. This role will require strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities, complemented by an understanding of data concepts and technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop a deep understanding of the Banking & Trust Services enterprise, including its operating model and key business processes to appropriately support their strategy and risk management efforts.
- Provide leadership and direction to the BTS Identity & Access Management team and the BTS Tools & Technology Strategy team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence.
- Oversee implementation and execution of DRATS roadmap and strategies.
- Ensure BTS’ compliance with Firm-wide Data Risk Management Policies and Standards including the Data Governance Standard and Data Integrity Standard by leading efforts to establish data risk management practices, procedures and controls that ensure the integrity, confidentiality of BTS data assets.
- Collaborate with BTS business unit senior leaders, Strategy, Data & Analytics (SDA), Corporate Risk Management and Schwab Technology Services (STS) to define and execute data strategy initiatives, including data acquisition, integrations, analysis and visualization to drive business insights and decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess and address emerging risks and regulatory requirements related to data and technology.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to BTS data and technology risks, providing leadership and expert guidance across business units.

- Works horizontally – Collaborates across teams in the organization with workstream & initiative owners to manage interdependent complexities, roadblocks, milestones.
- Risk Management – Demonstrated expertise in risk management, including identification, assessment and mitigation strategies, to safeguard organizational assets and ensure operational resilience.
- Strong communication – Has proven strong communication and management skills to increase messaging with DRATS team, workstream & initiative owners & teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of work experience, experience in program management and/or risk management
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting information.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment.
- Superior analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, and attention to detail. Expert user of PowerPoint and Excel.
- Personally, and professionally aligned with Schwab's vision and values, and a strong interest in financial services.
