We’re hiring for a Managing Editor and writer within the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) Communications Team.
The SCFR Communications Team works directly with investment research groups to support the development and distribution of SCFR’s public and internal market, financial planning, and wealth management insights.
The SCFR Communications team coordinates with business partners throughout Schwab to ensure that SCFR’s point of view on timely issues of importance to investors is sent out through all distribution channels and is consumed by a wide audience of client facing representatives, clients, and prospects.
What you’ll do:
Working with internal business partners, the position is aimed at raising the editorial quality of SCFR material, boosting the efficiency of SCFR experts, and speeding up the process for content generation and distribution.
This role involves the ability to simplify financial concepts and jargon into clear, direct language appropriate for the target audience, which may range from the general public to industry experts.
The role also includes managing a small team, providing training and development opportunities.
Core Responsibilities:
- Own the editorial calendar, manage the production workflow, and ensure content is published on schedule
- Work with key business partners to develop and execute SCFR’s public facing content strategy
- Develop select materials working on the structure, concept, and content, often working closely with authors on revisions
- Review and revise content for factual accuracy, grammar, syntax, and adherence to specific editorial guidelines and regulatory compliance standards
- Incorporate search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to improve online visibility and engagement
What you have
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English or related field
- 10+ years writing, copy editing, and proofreading experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive work ethic
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- A basic understanding of financial planning, financial markets and economic data, and the ability to interpret the data
- Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to work concurrently on multiple projects under tight deadlines and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work locally, both on- and off-site
