Our Opportunity:

The Corporate Credit Research (CCR) team within Corporate Risk Management performs counterparty credit analysis and financial risk oversight to support Schwabs funding, trading, and investment activities. This Sr. Manager (Grade 58) Credit Analyst role will focus on credit risk support for secured funding and securities finance activitiesincluding repurchase agreements (repo), tri-party repo agent lending structures, and securities lendingwhile partnering closely with Treasury, Trading, Legal, Operations, and regulatory stakeholders. The successful candidate will help ensure strong counterparty credit quality, maintain appropriate risk limits, and support compliance with regulatory standards including the Single Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL) rule.

What youll do:

CCR is looking for a Sr. Managerlevel credit analyst to manage an assigned portfolio of counterparty exposures and support policy, monitoring, and documentation for secured funding and securities finance activities. In this role, you will perform fundamental credit analysis, recommend and monitor credit limits, and communicate key risks and mitigants to business partners and senior management. This is an individual contributor role.

  • Perform counterparty credit analysis for banks, broker-dealers, agents, and principal lenders supporting repo, tri-party repo, and securities lending activities; develop clear written credit rationales supported by financial statement analysis.
  • Support SCCL monitoring and related governance, including analysis of single-name exposures and escalation of potential limit breaches; partner with regulatory reporting stakeholders to support required reporting and internal oversight routines.
  • Evaluate and recommend credit limits (dollar and tenor) for new and existing counterparties, with consideration of netting, collateral terms, and exposure measures used for limit monitoring.
  • Partner with Legal and Operations on tri-party repo and securities lending structures, including review of operational capabilities for daily collateral/exposure reporting by agent lenders and assessment of key legal considerations relevant to close-out and collateral access.
  • Maintain ongoing surveillance of covered counterparties, including quarterly/annual review cycles, event-driven reviews, and monitoring of macroeconomic and market developments relevant to counterparties and funding markets.
  • Prepare materials for senior risk forums and internal stakeholders (e.g., presentations, memos, limit requests, and ad hoc analyses) and communicate complex credit topics in a concise, decision-useful manner.
  • Assist the broader CCR team with credit risk projects, policy/guideline updates, and continuous improvement of tools, reporting, and processes used to manage counterparty risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; CPA, CFA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, counterparty risk, treasury/secured funding risk, securities finance, or related risk management roles.
  • Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills, including ability to assess liquidity, capitalization, profitability, and key risk metrics for financial institutions and other counterparties.
  • Experience with SCCL (Single Counterparty Credit Limits) concepts, monitoring, governance, and/or reporting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of secured funding and securities finance products and structures, including repo and tri-party repo mechanics and/or securities lending.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present credit conclusions to business partners and senior management.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong Excel and general data/analytical tool proficiency.
