As a member of Advisor Services Technology, Operations team, you will be immersed in a collaborative, innovative, and technically challenging environment joining AST Operations Infrastructure and Security team. The platforms we support are essential to the success of the investment advisor and offer features such as client relationship management, portfolio accounting, trading, data integration, reporting and much more.
We are looking for skilled candidates who are enthusiastic about learning new and existing technologies to deliver exceptional solutions for the production resiliency of the systems. The role incorporates aspects of software engineering and operations. We are combining these skills to come up with better ways of managing and operating applications. The role will require a high level of responsibility and accountability yet has a support structure necessary for development growth.
• Design, build and perform infrastructure upgrades and provisioning to support our availability and reliability. Practice Site Reliability Engineering mindset and solve problems through automation and instrumentation.
• Monitor infrastructure, servers, middleware, databases, and batch jobs.
• Work on capacity planning and management for applications, estimating and analyzing growth rates for vital infrastructure components.
• Support infrastructure Resiliency, Disaster Recovery, and High Availability events.
• Partner with the application development teams and SREs in the team, to ensure implementations are architected and designed from the aspect of infrastructure resiliency.
• Identify opportunities to build innovative tools and solve unique operations problems on large enterprise and mission critical applications.
• Develop tools, frameworks, and instrumentation to validate and increase rollout success for infrastructure platforms.
• Partner with the support organizations to build and rollout plans for enhanced telemetry and reduce defect leakage for software delivery to production.
• Monitor the current state of infrastructure to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
• Understand, advocate, and augment the Schwab Reliability Engineering principles, guidelines, and standards.
• Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement.
Identify and remediate Cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

Required Qualifications
• BS in computer science or related technical field with at least 2 years of experience with listed technical skills.
• Experience in highly availability and distributed systems, Linux and Windows administration, Data and SAN Storage Networks, NAS, and Networking, leveraging tools to instrument and automate proactively and eventually predictive availability solutions.
• Experience transitioning platforms to the cloud, good understanding of cloud technologies – Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Anthos, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• Working knowledge of Monitoring tools - Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes.
• Knowledge of networking including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancers and IP routing.
• Familiarity with one or more databases- Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB.
• Building scripts using python, Perl, or shell to automate operational tasks & incorporating the solutions into infrastructure.
• Understanding of Cybersecurity vulnerability scanning tools like Qualys, CrowdStrike, Stairwell.
• Proven capability to provide infrastructure visibility on environment health to technology and business partners.
• Strong automation, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused with good written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to participate in on call support rotation.
• Understanding of CI/CD tools like GitHub, Bitbucket Pipelines, Bamboo
• Excellent debugging skills across a variety of integrated platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in software development or system administration can be beneficial.
• Knowledge of development languages like C, C++, Kotlin, JavaScript, Php, Angular, Java, Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and tool development is a plus.
• Knowledge in Full-stack web development, RESTful API, Spring Boot.
• Experience with deploying applications in Agile SDLC environment.
• Basic understanding of Database: Firebase, PhpMyAdmin, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB.
• Understanding of Data & Integration: SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ETL Development & Data Pipeline Architecture, Alteryx, Database Administration, Data Migration & Validation.
• Understanding of networking tools like Wireshark, Nmap, tcpdump, Nagios, JMeter.
