Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. CVM provides category management and strategic souring as well as identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.

What you’ll do:

This new leadership role within Sourcing will be responsible for leading the team that represents Sourcing with the development of CVM’s technology and data strategy. This resource will act in a dedicated capacity to represent Sourcing’s best interest, leverage their expertise with how Vendor Sourcing Managers (VSM) use tools and data to execute their job functions, and be able to collaborate and align across the Sourcing organization when additional expertise or perspective is warranted to capture Sourcing needs in the CVM technology & data roadmaps.  This role will ensure that the technology and tools utilized by the Sourcing team are optimized, align with our business needs, and support the efficient execution of sourcing processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sourcing processes, combined with a strong aptitude for technology and systems management.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coach and mentor team members, with a clear approach to leadership and development of the team to support CVM’s priorities
  • Collaborate closely with the CVM Transformation Delivery and Data & Insights teams to represent Sourcing challenges, opportunities, technology & data needs, and to understand the platforms and capabilities CVM is evaluating to support Sourcing requirements.
  • Conduct research on possible technical solutions that can meet Sourcing technology and data needs and share that research and recommendations with the Transformation Delivery and D&I teams.
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements or new technologies that could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Enable the team to successfully represent the Sourcing organization and solicit input, align on viable solutions and provide direction for the Transformation Delivery and D&I teams.
  • Actively participate in discussions with the Transformation Delivery and D&I teams about future technology platforms and capabilities.
  • Forge strong partnerships to effectively collaborate across the Sourcing organization to represent the team and solicit the necessary input to drive decisions with the Transformation Delivery and D&I teams.
  • Provide regular updates to Sourcing Leadership and broader organization about progress, decision points, and other relevant information sharing.
  • Coordinate closely with relevant CVM project teams and working groups to ensure a cohesive approach to enhancing Sourcing tools, technologies and data management.
  • Identify, coordinate and support delivery of training opportunities for Sourcing team on the use of sourcing and procurement tools and technologies, ensuring they are equipped to fully utilize these resources.

What you have


  • 7+ years of experience in a strategic sourcing function with a strong understanding of sourcing processes, contract, and vendor management.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a CVM VSM with experience using CVM tools, such as a Ariba, and working with CVM processes.
  • 3+ years of directly or indirectly leading a team of engaged team members, with experience leading geographically dispersed team members
  • Expertise with sourcing tools, contract management systems, and technology solutions relevant to sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional, diverse teams
  • Passion for learning about new technical capabilities and platforms to realize efficiencies and evolve how Sourcing executes its responsibilities.
  • Superior communication skills, including ability to develop concise and effective recommendations and documented requirements to drive progress and decisions.
  • Problem-solving and growth mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Strong research capabilities.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects concurrently with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfort working with all levels of the CVM organization.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to take initiative.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
