Charles Schwab's Fixed Income Trading Team manages the firm's BondSource platform that offers clients, on a typical day, the choice of over 200,000 different fixed income securities. The most popular products are Municipal and Corporate Bonds; CD's; U.S. Treasury Bills, Notes and Bonds. The group consists of approximately 35 Traders managing separate portfolios primarily in three locations (Lone Tree, CO, Jersey City, NJ, and San Francisco, CA).
Charles Schwab is seeking a Manager, Trader I, to join our Fixed Income Syndicate team, one of four teams within Fixed Income Trading. The Syndicate team is responsible for managing new issue and secondary order flow for Certificates of Deposit, Structured Products, Retail Notes/MTNs, and preferred stocks.
In this role, you will independently support daily trading activities while partnering closely with senior traders to manage execution, workflow, and risk across a diverse set of fixed income products. You will have deep knowledge of fixed income product structures, issuance mechanics, and the tools and electronic platforms used to deliver these offerings to Schwab clients.
You will collaborate closely with Sales & Service partners to ensure client needs are met with accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism, building trusted relationships that support a great client experience. A successful candidate will proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows, driving efficiencies that enhance team effectiveness and reinforce a continuous transformational mindset.
This position requires strong communication and teamwork skills along with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position will be in Jersey City, NJ.
What you have

Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of Fixed Income Trading experience is required
- Series 7, 57 & 63 are required
- Proficiency in Schwab Bond Source is required
- Experience working in Bloomberg is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of fixed income market structure, familiarity with all fixed income products, and strong knowledge base of product(s) you trade, are all required
- Minimal trade errors and/or violations
- Understanding of Fixed Income Trading Policy & Desk Procedures
- Establish and grow key contacts at contra firms across the Broker Dealer community
- Establish and grow relationships with internal business partners including Sales & Service, FI Risk and Operations
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage daily workload in a high intensity environment
- Communicates and escalates effectively
- Awareness of personal brand and comfortable training others
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
