We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

Your Opportunity:

As the Application/Solution Architect in our Advisor Services Technology team, focusing on Wealth Services, you will operate in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating environment where innovation and impact go hand in hand. In this senior role, you will provide enterprise-level technical leadership with a balance of strategic architecture vision and hands-on solution design. Our team builds and maintains a suite of platforms for Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), including the iRebal® portfolio rebalancing platform – Schwab’s premier rebalancing system designed to seamlessly integrate into advisor workflows and shortening manual rebalancing efforts from weeks to hours. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented technology leader with a strong track record in software engineering, systems architecture, and large-scale solution delivery in a fast-paced, agile environment. You have exceptional problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail, along with the confidence to navigate ambiguity and complexity. You will excel at influencing across the organization and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product vision and execution in the Wealth Services domain. If you are enthusiastic about building innovative financial technology, leveraging deep domain expertise in financial services (especially in portfolio rebalancing), and guiding teams to success through strong architecture and leadership, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end application architecture and solution design for the Advisor Services Wealth Services platform, with emphasis on rebalancing and iRebal®.

  • Drive cross-team architectural alignment through research, trade-off analysis, and facilitation to meet functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Define and execute platform technology roadmaps; ensure deliverables are release-ready, risks are mitigated, and quality standards are met.

  • Create and maintain architecture artifacts and documentation (diagrams, data/logic flows, deployment models) to enable scalable delivery and operations.

  • Architect scalable integration solutions for file/data processing, ETL/validation workflows, and service layers supporting data transmission across systems.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across the SDLC (reviews, testing strategy, debugging, documentation and production support).

  • Partner with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, well-architected solutions and measurable outcomes.

  • Apply wealth/trading/rebalancing domain expertise to guide design decisions aligned to platform strategy and industry trends.

  • Mentor engineers and technical leads; act as a visible technical leader who strengthens collaboration and elevates engineering standards.
