Your Opportunity

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab’s Wealth Advisory, Banking, and Trust (WABT) organization delivers comprehensive wealth management, banking, and trust solutions across the full advice spectrum. In parallel, Schwab Investment Platforms, Services, and Solutions (SIPSS) enables new product platforms and services that support innovation, scalability, and differentiated client and advisor experiences.

The Wealth and Product Risk & Governance organization provides firstline risk leadership across both enterprises, supporting growth while ensuring risk is identified early, documented clearly, and managed intentionally.

As a Senior Manager on the Risk Programs team, you will lead and evolve core risk programs spanning WABT and SIPSS. This role is designed for a leader who can operate with autonomy, apply sound judgment in ambiguous environments, and help scale risk programs as business models, products, and regulatory expectations continue to evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead designated business unit risk programs, serving as program owner and primary point of accountability for program design, execution, and ongoing maturity.
  • Apply a crossenterprise lens to risk program development, ensuring programs scale appropriately across both WABT and SIPSS while accounting for differences in product complexity, delivery models, and risk profiles.
  • Proactively identify emerging regulatory and operational risks, translating risk events, issues, and testing results into targeted program enhancements and practical mitigation strategies.
  • Drive the strategic evolution of risk programs by balancing enterprise standards with business realities and exercising judgment where guidance or tooling lags emerging products or delivery models.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business units and risk functions (1LOD, 2LOD, 3LOD) to support control design, issue remediation, and effective oversight.
  • Lead riskrelated change management initiatives, including program updates, control changes, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop businessguided tools, templates, and resources that improve program adoption, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Represent the Risk Programs function in partner engagements, escalating issues thoughtfully and engaging senior leaders when needed to drive alignment and decisions.

What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in risk management, governance, controls, or regulatory oversight within financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and operating business unit risk programs or processes.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to brokerdealer and/or RIA environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong ability to think conceptually and design scalable risk solutions that enable business evolution while maintaining appropriate risk discipline.
  • Proven strategic thinking skills and the ability to connect insights across risk events, issues, testing results, and business change.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fastchanging environments and making sound judgment calls when direction is incomplete.
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills, with experience working across business, technology, Legal, Compliance, and risk partners.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to operate autonomously while remaining aligned with broader organizational objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MyGRC or similar risk and governance platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Familiarity with WABT, SIPSS, or similar wealth and productdriven organizations is a plus.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
