Messaging is a key component of I&O (Infrastructure & Operations) organization. The Enterprise Messaging team is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure of a highly available Message Queue transport across mainframe and distributed environments. This support is crucial to applications effectively leveraging business data in an enterprise environment.
You will be working with a team of seasoned messaging experts on enterprise-class platforms that support critical business workloads in a large-scale, dynamic technology environment. We are looking for a senior-specialist infrastructure developer for our enterprise-messaging platforms. Primary skillset is IBM MQ with a DevOps focus.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support for IBM MQ on all platforms (Windows, Linux, Appliances, Mainframe, and OpenShift)
- Acting as a primary representative for Enterprise Messaging platforms for cross-organization projects, independently elaborating on requirements and executing on project needs
- 24x7 oncall weeks
- Market Open monitoring
- Maintaining and improving Ansible playbooks
- Implementing and certifying messaging software and related program products
- Interfacing with other technology support organizations
- Performing problem determination for issues with messaging integrations
- Staying up-to-date with best practices for the implementation and operation of messaging integrations
- Acting as a key resource for business-integration efforts among multiple Schwab domains and third parties
- Delivering innovative solutions to complex problems and business cases
- Performing key role in a major messaging-infrastructure consolidation effort
- Executing on security efforts in the messaging area
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- A BA/BS degree and 10+ years of work or project experience working in a large IBM MQ environment including 3+ years in the financial industry
- Experience with RCA and remediation of complex messaging problems
- Strong problem determination and resolution skills as well as problem and change management disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Ansible
- Experience with z/OS mainframe environment
- Experience working through source control with git on team projects
- Development background in .NET, Java, or COBOL

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
