The Bank Sales team is seeking a high potential Director of Business Development (BDO) who will act as the Bank’s subject matter authority for our Advisor Services (AS) business. The BDO is tasked with driving a deeper understanding of products and services for Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) who use Schwab for custody.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to AS teams, RIAs, and key internal stakeholders by bringing deep expertise across bank lending, deposit, and cash management solutions.
  • Drive awareness, education, and adoption of BTS capabilities by identifying opportunities within advisor relationships and aligning solutions to client needs and growth objectives.
  • Partner closely with Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders to facilitate advisor meetings, conferences, and other engagement opportunities that deepen awareness of BTS solutions and support business development efforts

What you’ll do

  • Develop and execute business development strategies that increase advisor engagement, deepen product penetration, and grow BTS opportunities across an assigned territory or segment.
  • Partner with internal sales teams and advisor-facing partners to identify, prioritize, and advance banking and trust services opportunities.
  • Lead education and consultative discussions with RIAs and internal partners on product capabilities, deal structures, positioning, and suitability of BTS solutions.
  • Coordinate with credit, service, operations, and other matrix partners to help move opportunities through the pipeline efficiently and deliver a high-quality client and partner experience.
  • Monitor market activity, advisor needs, and competitive trends to inform business plans, strengthen partner relationships, and uncover new areas for growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relationship management, business development, or consultative sales experience within financial services, including experience working with bank or brokerage partners.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and lending solutions, including residential mortgage and asset-based lending products, with experience supporting high net worth and ultra-high net worth client needs.
  • Proven ability to influence partners, deliver compelling product education, and advance opportunities through strong consultative selling and sales closing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including confidence in public speaking, presenting to advisor audiences, and communicating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, sound business judgment, and the ability to assess opportunities from both a client and strategic growth perspective.
  • Demonstrated client focus, strong relationship-building ability, and a track record of delivering a high-quality partner and client experience.
  • Ability to travel and manage a large territory effectively while maintaining strong internal and external partner engagement.
  • Active Series 7 and 63/65 or 66 licenses required.
  • NMLS license required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
