Schwab’s Workplace Branch organization is at the heart of our firm’s commitment tohelping Workplace (SPS, RPS, DBS) participants own their financial futures. In this exciting role, you’ll introduce plan participants to the breadth of Schwab’s Retail and Workplace offerings through a planning-led approach.

This position is part of the Employee Branch team which is primarily responsible for providing financial planning guidance to Schwab’s employees, and their families to meet their financial needs.  Comprehensive financial planning and wealth management on behalf of our employees includes, but is not limited to retirement planning, education planning, investment management, estate planning, equity compensation, deferred compensation, active investing, banking, insurance, and lending needs. In this role, Sr. Financial Consultants provide guidance built upon the firm’s philosophy, policies, and guidelines in meeting the needs of our executives, Board of Directors, and high-net-worth employees.

As a Sr.Workplace Financial Consultant, you will support a practice of existing Schwab employees (primarily executives and Board of Directors), providing them with wealth management and financial planning advice. While providing high-touch service through relationship building, you will be supported by a team of dedicated professionals who can help in servicing in-depth, complex financial needs your clients may encounter.

What you are good at


Wealth Management Planning and Financial Planning

  • Has comprehensive understanding of wealth management issues such as: investment planning, insurance planning, retirement planning, equity compensation, deferred compensation, education and family wealth planning, and estate planning.
  • Highly effective at using a consultative approach to evaluate, analyze, implement, and monitor appropriate financial planning solutions to meet executive’s needs based on breadth of Schwab’s Wealth Management offer.                                  
    • Reviews and recommends more complex investment and insurance options to C-suite employees. 
    • Will utilize and leverage internal and external resources to ensure complex financial needs are addressed.
    • Proficient at providing holistic advice structured around wealth management issues.
    • Ability to create a highly customized and personalized employee experience while ensuring the ongoing appropriateness of advised offers for enrolled employees.  
    • Creates customized, personalized, and documented strategies and action steps to ensure employees’ wealth management needs are met

Building Employee Loyalty

  • Proactively engages employees in the ongoing maintenance of their customized wealth management strategy and investment action plan. 
  • Influences with impact – shapes opinions and actions in a manner that gains employee’s trust and commitment.
  • Utilizes advanced portfolio construction skills, leveraging available complex solutions.
  • Anticipates executive’s needs utilizing a consultative and collaborative approach, and delivers sophisticated, practical, and innovative solutions to employees that meet their needs and addresses their concerns.
  • Is organizationally savvy and understands how to make connections across businesses to ensure superior servicing of executive accounts.
  • Demonstrates ownership and coordination of additional internal and external resources to serve as specialist in the areas of comprehensive financial planning, including, but not limited to, equity compensation, fixed income strategies, and retirement and estate planning strategies.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must currently be a Sr Financial Consultant in Employee Branch
  • 5+ years’ experience in Employee Branch is required
  • At least 10 years’ experience with Schwab is required
  • A valid and active Series 7 license is required 
  • A valid and active Series 66 (63/65) license required (license(s) may be obtained under a condition of employment)
  • Active and valid insurance – Life and Health (may be obtained within 120 days of employment)
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Wealth Strategist (CWS) is required (may be obtained under a condition of employment) 
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a dedicated practice and experience in the Workplace space

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Highly effective at using a consultative approach to evaluate, analyze, implement, and monitor appropriate financial planning solutions 
  • Proven work ethic with a high level of integrity to build trust with our clients and colleagues. 
  • Exhibits independent and strategic thinking.
  • Expert ability to manage a practice of clients, including segmentation and proactive outreach.
  • Expert ability to communicate with and engage employees and ultimately influence employee action with strong verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Ensures the proper risk disciplines are in place to deliver the best outcomes for our employees.
  • Ability to proactively recognize life-cycle events for employees and leverages this ability to consolidate and retain assets.  Effectively probes for life-cycle events and provides appropriate financial planning advice.

Pursuant to SAFE Act requirements, all employees engaged in residential loan mortgage originations must register with the NMLS registry system and remain in good standing. You will be required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process.
