The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and
scalability of Schwab’s digital platforms. This role is responsible for defining and driving test automation strategy
across the full software delivery lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on CI/CD, DevOps practices, and risk-based testing.
The Senior SDET partners closely with onshore and offshore teams, providing clear technical communication,
coordination, and guidance to ensure consistent quality execution. This position also serves as a technical leader by
training and onboarding quality control team members across systems, while advocating for modern testing practices,
tooling standards, and continuous improvement across teams.
Quality Engineering & Automation Strategy – Defines and drives comprehensive quality and test automation
strategies across UI, API, and service layers to support scalable, reliable software delivery.
CI/CD & DevOps Enablement – Integrates automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment confidence,
reduce delivery lead time, and support continuous improvement.
Technical Leadership & Enablement – Provides technical leadership through mentoring, onboarding, and training
quality control team members across systems, tools, and testing best practices.
Cross‑Team & Offshore Collaboration – Effectively communicates expectations, standards, and priorities across
onshore and offshore teams to ensure consistent execution and alignment.
Risk‑Based & Client‑Focused Testing – Applies risk‑based testing approaches to ensure quality efforts are aligned to
business priorities, client impact, and overall customer experience.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation – Continuously evaluates tools, processes, and emerging practices (including
AI‑assisted testing and prompt engineering) to improve quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
What you have

Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance
6+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test solutions
Hands-on coding experience in Java or another object-oriented programming language
Experience using modern development tools such as Visual Studio Code (VS Code) for test development and
maintenance
Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks for UI, APIs, and services
Experience with Mabl or equivalent modern test automation platforms
Experience testing APIs using tools such as Bruno and Swagger (OpenAPI)
Experience working within Agile development methodologies
Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps principles
Experience with source control and CI tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins)
Experience performing code reviews and collaborating closely with software engineers
Demonstrated experience assessing risk and applying risk-based testing strategies
Experience leading or mentoring engineers in testing best practices, automation strategy, and system knowledge
Strong client-focused mindset, with demonstrated experience ensuring testing strategies and quality outcomes
align to client needs, business priorities, and overall customer experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and extending automated tests using Mabl, including custom scripting with JavaScript Experience with Drupal-based platforms, including testing content workflows, integrations, and CMS-driven experiences Experience with ContentHub or similar enterprise content management platforms, including validation of content publishing, syndication, and delivery pipelines Experience validating and testing reporting frameworks, dashboards, and data-driven systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and usability Experience writing and executing SQL queries to validate data integrity, test reporting outputs, and support troubleshooting and analysis Experience with ObservePoint for digital governance, tag validation, data quality monitoring, or site scanning Experience with service virtualization and test data management strategies Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or similar Experience developing automated reporting and metrics to measure test effectiveness, quality trends, and automation ROI Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise platforms with multiple concurrent releases Experience influencing QA and testing standards across multiple teams or organizations Experience with prompt engineering, including crafting, refining, and validating prompts to support testing, automation, analysis, or quality workflows
