We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Trading Order Entry & Status Technologies team responsible for building and supporting Schwab's next generation trading platform. This team develops high throughput, low latency systems that power order entry, order lifecycle management, and status processing across Equities, Options, Mutual Funds, and Fixed Income products.


In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and support mission critical distributed systems that process high volume of trading events while maintaining exceptional reliability, performance, and resiliency. You will work within an Agile team and collaborate closely with business, architecture, and engineering partners to modernize Schwab's trading platform and deliver innovative solutions that directly impact client trading experiences.

Key Responsibilities
            • As a developer you will be a self-driven individual contributor; provide efficiently organized and designed logic; be highly motivated and well                versed in developing robust easily maintainable applications.
            • You can quickly understand complex problems and come up with simple solutions.
            • Ability to communicate well with teams and leaders of the organization; have good listening skills and ask great questions
            • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail is required.
            • Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
            • Partner with scrum team members to build out automation solutions to advance Schwab SDLCs and meeting critical business objectives.
            • Understand the application architecture, hosting infrastructure, interaction with dependency apps and complete feature workflow to assess                   all the risk around integration points before developing good test cases.
            • Design, develop, test, and support scalable distributed applications and services.
            • Build automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing solutions as part of the software development lifecycle.
            • Ensure high software quality through engineering best practices, observability, monitoring, and automation.
            • Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

            • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

            • 7+ years of experience building scalable backend systems and platform with .NET technologies
            • including .NET Core
            • 5+ years of experience working on high performance, low latency financial transaction systems
            • including Schwab trading order entry systems.
            • 5+ years of Hands-on expertise with NoSQL databases, such as Aerospike and MongoDB, to support
            • low latency, high-performance, and schema-less Trading solutions.
            • 5+ years of hands on expertise in Messaging and services-based software in a cloud platform using
            • RabbitMQ, Kafka, IBM MQ or equivalent technologies;
            • 5+ years of Hands-on expertise with relational databases, such as Db2 and SQL Server.
            • 5+ years of expertise on cloud based technologies like GCP and PCF.
            • Strong understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle across one or more asset classes including Equities, Options, Mutual Funds, and Fixed               Income.
            • 5+ years implementing CI/CD pipelines using Harness or GitHub Actions, usage of Atlassian tools
            • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern software engineering practices.
            • Strong knowledge in design patterns with hands on experience
            • Experience with troubleshooting Production issues through analysis of logs (Splunk), AppDynamics, ITRS, dashboards and metrics.
            • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum Experience adopting or managing continuous Integration and continuous delivery concepts and                             frameworks
            • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR related practical experience
