This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).
Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.
Schwab Data is transforming enterprise data and analytics through a secure, scalable, and self-service Google Cloud–based ecosystem and to empower business led analytics at scale—safely, reliably, and with speed.
We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer to be part of Self-Service Analytics Platform team where you will own the reliability and evolution of our home grown self-service platforms that enable business teams to build and run analytics with minimal friction.
As part of this role, you will keep the ecosystem healthy, diagnose and fix defects, and partner with Architecture to plan platform changes, add ons, and upgrades. A core focus is critical modernization and promoting operational efficiency. The work is highly visible and cross functional, with broad exposure to Python, .NET, BigQuery, Visualization and Orchestration tools and SQL as we advance operational efficiency, platform security, automation, and developer experience across Schwab.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own platform health and reliability for the self-service ecosystem: monitor/triage, root cause and resolve issues.
- Onboard new user groups and partner with Architecture on environment changes, add on usage, and upgrades; implement security best practices for batch usage, version control, code migration, UNIX scripting, logging, and release procedures.
- Drive operational excellence by evaluating and implementing utilities and automation that increase platform/process efficiency and reduce support toil; measure and communicate improvements. Ensure disaster recovery and resilience strategies are defined, tested, and continuously improved for mission-critical data platforms and services.
- Build with a rigorous, multi-language toolbox—Java, Python, C#/ .NET (and .NET APIs), BigQuery, SQL, and Analytics Visualization and Orchestration tools to enhance the platform’s developer and end-user experience and scalability for federated analytics and operations teams.
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required:

- Strong programming experience with Python and at least one additional language or framework such as Java, C#/.NET, or .NET APIs.
- Proven experience with SQL and cloud-based data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes that improve platform reliability.
- Experience building or supporting automation, utilities, scripts, or tooling that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
- Working knowledge of version control, code migration, release procedures, logging, UNIX scripting, and secure software delivery practices.
- Understanding of platform security, access controls, and operational risk considerations in an enterprise environment.
- Experience partnering with architecture, infrastructure, business, and operations teams to deliver platform changes, upgrades, and user onboarding.
- Familiarity with analytics visualization, orchestration, or business intelligence tools and how they integrate with enterprise data platforms.
- Strong communication, ownership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a highly visible, cross-functional environment.
- Experience supporting self-service analytics, data enablement, or internal developer platforms in a large enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services, BigQuery administration, cloud security patterns, and cost/performance optimization.
- Experience with BI, visualization, or orchestration platforms such as Tableau, Alteryx, Business Objects, Airflow, Control-M, or comparable tools.
- Background in platform modernization, technical debt reduction, application upgrades, or migration from legacy technologies to cloud-native solutions.
- Experience designing or improving disaster recovery, resilience, observability, logging, alerting, and incident response capabilities for mission-critical platforms.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, environment management, and release governance.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions while balancing security, risk, reliability, and user experience considerations.
