The Fixed Income Trading team supports a comprehensive trading platform serving Schwab clients, advisors, internal teams, dealers, and regulatory systems. This role will help deliver secure, reliable, and continuously improving trading experiences by advancing automated testing across applications and platforms.

You will design and maintain scalable automation frameworks, translate complex business and technical requirements into effective test strategies, and evaluate application architecture, integration points, and risk. Through analytical thinking and problem solving, you will strengthen functional, regression, and integration coverage while improving visibility into quality and test outcomes.

Success requires close collaboration with engineering, architecture, quality assurance, and business partners in an Agile environment. You will provide technical leadership, support sound decisions throughout the software development life cycle, and adapt testing approaches as platforms, technologies, and client needs evolve.

What you have


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks
  • Experience supporting Fixed Income trading applications and understanding the order lifecycle from order entry through execution and regulatory reporting
  • Experience applying Quality Assurance, Test Planning, Testing Procedures, and Unit Testing to functional and regression coverage
  • Proficiency with Java, REST APIs, and object-oriented software development
  • Experience assessing application architecture, integration points, and technical risk
  • Demonstrated Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Technical Troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with application architects, engineers, quality assurance professionals, business partners, and other stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, behavior-driven development, Gherkin, and test-driven development
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as IBM MQ or Kafka
  • Experience with FIX protocol, QuickFIX engines, TRACE, or regulatory reporting systems
  • Experience with DevOps and continuous integration and delivery practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms, including Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with SQL, Relational Databases, data validation, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, Zephyr, or Bamboo
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Technical Leadership experience supporting engineers in improving test quality and coverage

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
