Your Opportunity

Schwab remains committed to providing increased visibility to career growth opportunities and job requirements. This posting announcement is part of increased transparency and while all qualified applicants will be reviewed and considered, this organization has a preferred candidate identified for this role.

Schwab Advisor Services is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and adaptable Senior User Experience Designer who is passionate about understanding and responding to user needs and pain points. In this role, you will help shape the future of our industry-leading enterprise platform, supporting independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) in scaling efficiently, competing confidently, and responding to increasingly complex client needs. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary UX and Product teams to turn insights and requirements into well-conceived and well-crafted digital products.

As a UX Designer, you are responsible for:

Product design and execution

  • Bring products to life through collaboration across the enterprise, designing solutions that delight and satisfy our clients and meet business needs.
  • Create solutions together with a cross-functional product team, considering how digital, physical, and service channels work together.
  • Influence product design efforts from early discovery to final delivery.
  • Align visual design approach for products, including how aspects like layout, color, spacing and typography impact how the user will interact with the system and how the system should respond.
  • Work within and contribute to a design system with full understanding of the overarching structure and implementation methods for patterns and components.
  • Understand that the tiniest detail can make all the difference. Focus attention on meeting product requirements, providing consistent and error-free experiences, and ensuring every aspect of the design is accessible and inclusive.

Teamwork, collaboration, and engagement

  • Support multiple product teams simultaneously, manage shifting priorities with autonomy and initiative.
  • Collaborate with Product and UX leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure user insights are embedded throughout the product design process.
  • Leverage your expertise to drive decision-making, recognizing that great products are achieved iteratively, within scope and budget, emphasizing progress over perfection.
  • Raise potential roadblocks to leadership and collaborate to remove blockers or find alternate paths forward.
  • Maintain the high standards set by the group, including channel standards, content standards and the Schwab Advisor Services design system.

Your approach:

  • Use research insights to identify patterns, opportunities, and long-term implications.
  • Propose solutions that benefit all parties and craft arguments to support position.
  • Use storytelling to connect data and insights to business goals to guide decision makers and influence direction.
  • Have a design position and be open and flexible to adjustment if new information is presented.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships and use clear communication and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity, operating in areas where expectations and approaches are not fully defined.
  • Recognize that challenges are part of the process and collaboratively find root causes to determine next steps and new directions.

Why your work matters:

  • You will support an engaged set of users who rely on our products to manage their businesses and their clients’ financial lives.
  • By understanding user needs you will be able to impact how our users do business with Schwab.
  • You will learn how to balance functionality against complexity on a highly visible platform which serves millions of advisors and retail customers.
  • You will work with an engaged product design team that fosters a learning environment.

What you have

  • 8+ years of product design experience focused on enterprise digital products or equivalent.
  • An online portfolio showing process and design thinking.
  • Experience supporting both long-term strategy development and detailed design execution.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to turn complex concepts into clear, persuasive narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence design, product, and technology partners.
  • Strong self-management skills, comfortable with working directly with our partners.
  • Proven track record of navigating complex situations and projects successfully
  • Comfort in a project-oriented work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
