Schwab is transforming its enterprise data and analytics capabilities through its secure, scalable, self-service Google Cloud–based ecosystem. The Schwab Google Data & Analytics (SGDA) platform supports enterprise reporting, AI/ML use cases, regulatory workloads, and next-generation data products across multiple lines of business.
As part of this evolution, DevOps within the SGDA ecosystem is foundational to secure, standardized, and scalable delivery of cloud-native data platforms. This includes enterprise CI/CD enablement, DevSecOps controls, infrastructure automation, modernization of legacy delivery tooling, database change management and versioning, production scheduling and orchestration, and enforcement of platform engineering guardrails across CDW, ODX, Informatica, and associated data services.
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud Data DevOps (Individual Contributor) to serve as the senior technical authority for DevOps architecture and execution across SGDA platforms. This is a senior hands-on technical role (not a people management position) with accountability for design decisions, standards enforcement, modernization delivery, and operational outcomes across multiple cloud-based data platforms in a regulated environment
Key Responsibilities
Automation Engineering & DevOps Leadership
• Lead and manage automation, and DevOps team supporting Schwab data platforms.
• Lead end to end SLDC process improvement & and developer experience improvements
• Aligning engineering capacity with business priorities through close collaboration with stakeholders across Schwab business data delivery teams, client & operational data teams.
• Partner with manager & senior leadership to define roadmaps, priorities, and staffing strategies.
• Own the Automation & DevOps team roadmap & backlog, host stakeholder connects, discuss prioritization & plan PI initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
• Manage on-shore and off-shore global Schwab Data DevOps teams
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across Schwab employees and vendor partner professional services employees.
• Mentor and develop engineers and team members through coaching, feedback, and career development.
• Promote ongoing learning, certification, and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Build an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
Automation & DevOps Enablement
• Drive the design, development, and adoption of GitHub CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and automation solutions.
• Drive automation of DevSecOps and Code Quality scanning using CodeQL, Veracode, Sonar
• Lead automation initiatives using Ansible, Python, and shell scripting across data integration, migration, scheduling, and security use cases.
• Build reusable automation assets and frameworks that can be leveraged across the Schwab data teams.
Automation & DevOps Modernization, Operations, Reliability & Scalability
• Lead modernization efforts for cloud-native automation, emphasizing standardization, automation, and reusable patterns to improve overall SDLC.
• Support growing enterprise workloads by improving performance, availability, and scalability of DevOps & CICD services.
• Oversee disaster recovery planning, testing, and capacity planning initiatives.
• Establish dashboards and executive-level reporting for platform health, reliability, and efficiency.
• Ensure operational excellence through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Governance, Security & Compliance
• Partner with security, risk, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and enterprise governance standards.
• Enforce platform security, access controls, encryption, and data protection best practices.
• Collaborate with application teams, enterprise architecture, delivery organizations, and external vendors to align roadmaps and manage dependencies.
• Advocate for technology solutions that deliver measurable business value & cost savings.
What you have
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
• 12+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, DataSecOps, data engineering and automation.
• Proven experience leading enterprise-scale engineering teams at large financial services organization.
Technical Expertise
• 10+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud automation, or software delivery for enterprise platforms.
• 8+ years designing and operating CI/CD pipelines at enterprise scale using Bamboo and/or Jenkins, with demonstrated modernization experience toward GitHub-based delivery.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with GitHub, including GitHub Actions and enterprise repository and pipeline standards.
• 5+ years building automation using Ansible, Python, and shell scripting across provisioning, deployment, configuration, and compliance use cases.
• 3+ years supporting software platforms within large-scale data ecosystems, including exposure to enterprise ETL and data integration environments (e.g., SSIS, SSIL, Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, Talend, Erwin).
• Demonstrated experience in creating automation for databases Google Big Query, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server
• Demonstrated experience implementing database change and versioning governance using Liquibase.
• Experience implementing enterprise job scheduling and orchestration using Control-M and/or Autosys.
• Experience with production monitoring and observability ecosystems including GCP Logging, Splunk, Dynatrace/AppDynamics, and operational dashboarding (e.g., Tableau).
• Proven experience operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments with formal change management controls.
• Experience implementing Veracode, Sonar, CodeQL code scanning in CICD pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting large-scale data platforms within financial services.
• Cloud-native data engineering experience on Google Cloud Platform.
• Expertise in database object migration and automation using CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building operational health dashboards and executive reporting.
• Strong background in performance optimization, application reliability, and incident resolution.
