Managing Director, CES Service Availability Engineering reports directly to the Managing Director of Cross-Enterprise Services and plays a vital leadership role in guaranteeing uptime and operational excellence for critical Cross-Enterprise platforms, including Login, Portfolio Accounting, Portfolio Performance Engineering, Enterprise Middleware, Core Brokerage services Engineering, Digital Utilities and Business Process Management Technology domains and associated applications essential for enabling front-end business services.
This is a critical transformation role focused on turning around how production support is run today. The Managing Director is accountable for moving the organization away from manual, error‑prone processes and heavy offshore dependency, and toward a more reliable, automated, and insight‑driven operating model. The role requires leading a shift to using GenAI‑ and agentic‑based approaches to improve monitoring, incident response, root‑cause analysis, and day‑to‑day operations, while reducing human error and improving platform stability. A key expectation is to leverage Schwab India to build a strong, engineering‑led team that can drive this transformation, strengthen onshore capability, and gradually reduce the offshore footprint.
To be successful, the SAvE MD must assess the organization holistically and address gaps in skills, leadership, and operational rigor. This includes establishing an engineering‑first mindset, standardizing reliability practices, and improving how incidents, changes, and automation are managed. The role requires driving upskilling in modern automation and engineering tools, strengthening leadership with a focus on technical credibility and accountability, and embedding automation into core operational workflows. The MD is expected to reduce manual intervention, improve predictability and compliance, and free up capacity for higher‑value work, resulting in lower operational risk, improved productivity, and a more resilient and scalable production support model.
