ACAR Real-time fraud rules integration with the NextGen initiative is crucial in eliminating the dependency on hard-coded business logic, which in turn increases overall supportability by reducing the complexity of the code and enhancing team productivity. To continue modernizing ACAR, we require a strong individual in the 57 role to extend this design to our credit and risk checks and implement the business UI for publishing rules. This role is also vital in supporting and enhancing the current system to meet our technical and business goals
- Lead development efforts for moderately complex initiatives, providing technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers, while driving cloud modernization, resiliency, and GCP-based initiatives aligned with 2026 AOP goals.
- Design and develop highly scalable, resilient backend services using efficient algorithms, while leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve code quality, consistency, and developer productivity.
- Incorporate AI and automation across the SDLC, including:
- AI‑assisted requirements analysis and impact assessment
- Intelligent code generation, refactoring, and documentation support
- Automated test generation and defect detection
- AI‑driven monitoring and operational insights
- Collaborate in requirements analysis, solution design, and scoping discussions, applying data‑driven and AI‑informed approaches to assess complexity, risks, and implementation options.
Drive platform modernization efforts, including cloud-native patterns, service resiliency, observability, CI/CD improvements, and responsible integration of AI capabilities into existing services and workflows.
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
• BS or MS in computer science or related technical field
• 10+ years of experience successfully developing applications for Windows platforms using C# .Net.
• 5+ years working with Web API, REST Services, WCF or SOAP Services
• 4+ years of experience in database principles, such as SQL, Oracle, Aerospike or Mongo DB
• 2+ years leading projects with moderate complexity, including architecture decisions, technical direction, and mentoring team members.
• 1+ years of experience developing, integrating, or operationalizing AI/ML-powered applications, Generative AI solutions, or intelligent automation capabilities, plus current Schwab working experience
• Strong .NET & C# expertise on backend services with multithreading and memory management.
• Very strong experience with object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, development, implementation including algorithms and data structures.
Preferred Qualifications
• Preferred knowledge and experience with trading Credit and Risk checks.
• Preferred knowledge and experience with Options Pairing and requirement calculations for Complex Options Strategies.
• Preferred knowledge and experience with balance calculations for Portfolio Margin, Futures and Brokerage accounts including open orders.
• Experience developing AI-powered copilots, virtual assistants, agentic workflows, or intelligent decision-support systems.
• Experience leveraging AI to improve software engineering productivity, test automation, incident management, release processes, or operational support.
• Experience resolving code smells, vulnerabilities, and application security flaws.
• A yearning to understand and leverage new tools and technologies.
• Ability and interest in coaching and mentoring peers and junior staff.
• Strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interact and communicate successfully with business partners and technology teams.
• Experience supporting releases and applications in production.
