​​CCAT is a key tower in Schwab Broker-Dealer Service Engineering. We build the Schwab Customer Identifier (SCID) — the unified identity layer that resolves the same client across Schwab affiliates and powers a true 360° view of every customer across all lines of business. As a Senior Engineer, you'll deliver client-facing capabilities end-to-end and help raise how the team builds with AI.
We're specifically seeking engineers shaped by product-engineering environments — Global Capability Centers (GCCs), product companies, or in-house engineering orgs — where you owned a system, not a statement of work. The bar at CCAT is high ownership and accountability: you treat the product as yours, you stay with what you ship, and you're measured by the outcome — not by the handoff.

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver end-to-end features and services from design through production rollout — and stay accountable for them after they ship.
• Drive technical execution on your modules — make sound design choices, write production-grade code, and proactively flag risks.
• Build hands-on in Java on GCP and PCF.
• Adopt AI-assisted engineering practices — use Copilot, Claude Code, and spec-driven workflows day-to-day, and contribute back patterns that work.
• Collaborate across boundaries — with product, architecture, vendors, offshore teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions.​

What you have

Required qualifications: 

• Education: Bachelor's in Engineering, CS, or related field.
• AI-Assisted Engineering
  • Hands-on with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code in IDE/CLI workflows.
    
  • Comfortable with spec-driven development — translating designs (class structures, API contracts, data models) into structured prompts that produce production-grade code.
    
  • Uses AI for code, tests, reviews, and automation — with clear ownership of correctness.
    
• Core Engineering
  
  • 6+ yrs: Java, Spring, cloud, REST + SOAP web services in high-volume, highly-available environments.
    
  • 3+ yrs: Distributed/NoSQL DBs — PostgreSQL preferred, MongoDB, Yugabyte.
    
  • 3+ yrs: real-time data and streaming.
    
  • 3+ yrs: continuous build (Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git).
    
  • 2+ yrs: GCP and/or AWS/Azure.
    
  • 2+ yrs: event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, message queues).
    
  • 2+ yrs: cloud deployment in a CI/CD model.
    
  • 3+ yr: batch / data pipelines (Spring Batch, PySpark).
    
• Delivery & Collaboration
  
  • Agile + Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence).
    
  • Drives features to completion — anticipates risks, proposes solutions.
    
  • Experience collaborating with vendors, offshore teams, and internal stakeholders.
    
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Module-level ownership — designs, builds, and supports services with end-to-end responsibility; writes clear technical specs and contributes to architectural discussions.
  
• Quality and reliability — raises code quality through reviews, automated testing, and operational rigor; treats production stability as a personal commitment.
  
• Effective communication — delivers concise written and verbal updates; explains technical choices clearly to engineers and non-engineers alike.​

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
