Schwab is recruiting a driven, results-oriented developer for Manager, Software Development & engineering with a passion for technology and excellence. What you’ll do:
- In this role, you will partner closely with technical leads, product owners, and business stakeholders to define and deliver features that drive new capabilities.
- You will take a hands-on approach to development - writing high-quality code, performing code reviews, contributing to design decisions, and resolving production issues to ensure reliable delivery.
- You will apply strong software design expertise to build scalable, adaptable solutions, contributing to both new feature development and ongoing improvements. Collaboration is central to the role, working across engineering, architecture, and product teams to align on platform standards and ensure quality and consistency.
- You will influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and consistently deliver high-quality software that meets both business and client needs.
- You will stay closely connected to user needs by engaging with UX research and feedback, ensuring that what you build is client-focused and aligned to measurable business outcomes.
- A key expectation is to lead by example—mentoring junior engineers, supporting their career growth, and helping raise the overall technical bar of the team. What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or related practical experience
- 5+ years of professional experience of developing usable, scalable software, and expertise in developing and deploying enterprise applications with C#, .NET, and Angular.
- 5+ years of experience building REST services that support high volume
- Strong CS fundamentals in software design including algorithms, data structures.
- Working knowledge of cloud frameworks & design patterns such as Micro-services, Micro-UI, 12-factor design, OOD etc.
- Experience with Devs Ops best practices, CI/CD concepts and automated deployment pipeline tools.
- Proven experience using mocking frameworks and writing Unit Tests and Integration Tests.
- Must have experience in online security, user authentication and authorization, security vulnerabilities and remediation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading others technically, including providing coaching and mentoring as well as ensuring high code quality and adherence to standards
- Ability to review requirements, translate these requirements into a design, implement and fully test this design; testing experience should include all aspects of testing (unit, functional, integration, end-to-end)
- Must be a critical thinker and solutions-oriented
- Must have the ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
- Strong knowledge of Advisor Services & RIA domain
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages effectively for both technical and business audiences
Preferred:
- Experience with Atlassian tool suite is strongly preferred: JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo
- Experience building cloud ready applications using IAAS/PASS concepts in GCP, Private Cloud (preferably Pivotal Cloud Foundry) or similar cloud infrastructure
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Experience with building AI agents to increase efficiency in overall technology deliver is preferred
