Schwab is seeking an experienced infrastructure engineer to provide ongoing Windows Server operating system currency support across the enterprise environments.  In this role, you will be accountable for delivering secure, reliable, and compliant patching outcomes at scale, helping protect critical systems while maintaining business continuity, while also exploring ways to leverage the latest advances in AI to streamline, automate, and improve the existing patching process. 

This position requires advanced technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to operate independently while coordinating across infrastructure, security, and application teams.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will be:

  • A subject matter expert for Windows Currency efforts
  • Managing patching and side-deployments, along with communications to the application teams
  • Engaging in discussions and planning around the PMM scheduling tool
  • Provide scheduling and execution backup to team members on as needed basis
  • Leading the effort to modernize/refactor existing tooling to as few languages as possible
  • Leading the effort to automate and integrate the existing tooling to org-wide supported infrastructure, specifically Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
  • Proactively identify risks, establish mitigation plans, communicate with stakeholders, and maintain supporting documentation
  • Engage with both onshore and offshore teams to refine schedule/deployments

Scope & Impact

Your work spans multiple environments from Dev, Test, QA, and Production.  Your decisions directly impact system availability, security posture, and audit readiness.  You will influence enterprise risk exposure and production stability.

What you have


To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of operations support experience (Windows Server OS administration, troubleshooting, and vulnerability remediation)
  • Passion for finding efficiencies and improving process
  • Drive for automation of day-to-day tasks
  • Proficiency with SCCM, Powershell
  • Exposure to Python, and Ansible Automation Platform (playbooks)
  • Experience with Github
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Excellent project management skills and strong interpersonal, problem solving, prioritization, conflict resolution, analytical, influence, facilitation, negotiation, and time and resource management skills.
  • Located in the Austin, TX area

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
